You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit.

Lord, you brought me up from the place of the dead. You kept me from going down into the pit.

O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol; you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.

You brought me up from the grave, O Lord. You kept me from falling into the pit of death.

Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish. In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction; you have put all my sins behind your back.For the grave cannot praise you, death cannot sing your praise; those who go down to the pit cannot hope for your faithfulness. (niv)

For you, Lord, have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, (niv)

I said,‘ I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.’The engulfing waters threatened me, the deep surrounded me; seaweed was wrapped around my head.To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you, Lord my God, brought my life up from the pit. (niv)

“ Or someone may be chastened on a bed of pain with constant distress in their bones,so that their body finds food repulsive and their soul loathes the choicest meal.Their flesh wastes away to nothing, and their bones, once hidden, now stick out.They draw near to the pit, and their life to the messengers of death.
