至于我，他们有病的时候，我就穿上麻衣，禁食刻苦己心；我心里也不住地祷告（“我心里也不住地祷告”原文作“我的祷告都回到自己的怀中”）。

曩者彼有患。吾心為惻惻。衣麻且齋戒。求主脫其厄。所求出至誠。對主披心腹。

Yet when they were ill, I put on sackcloth and humbled myself with fasting. When my prayers returned to me unanswered,

But when they were sick, I put on the clothing of sadness. I made myself humble by going without food. My prayers for them weren’t always answered.

But I, when they were sick— I wore sackcloth; I afflicted myself with fasting; I prayed with head bowed on my chest.

Yet when they were ill, I grieved for them. I denied myself by fasting for them, but my prayers returned unanswered.

Yet when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth; I humbled myself with fasting, and my prayer was genuine.

艰难过日的，我不是为他哀哭；贫穷的，我不是为他忧愁吗？

如果这家是配得的，你们的平安就必临到他们；如果这家不配得，你们的平安仍归你们。

我哭泣禁食，这竟成了我的羞辱。我披上麻衣，就成了他们取笑的对象。

可是我告诉你们，当爱你们的仇敌，为迫害你们的祈祷，

那里若有配得平安的人（“配得平安的人”原文作“平安之子”），你们的平安就必临到他，不然，就归给你们。

亚哈听见这些话，就撕裂自己的衣服，披上麻布，禁食，睡在麻布上，并且神色颓丧地行走。耶和华的话临到提斯比人以利亚说：“你看见了亚哈在我面前怎样谦卑自己，因为他在我面前谦卑自己，所以他还在世的日子，我必不降这灾祸；到他儿子的日子，我必降这灾祸与他的家。”

这是完全休歇的安息，你们要刻苦己心。这是永远的律例。

他们说：“为什么我们禁食，你不看呢？为什么我们刻苦己身，你不理会呢？”看哪！你们在禁食的日子，仍然追求自己喜欢作的事，欺压为你们作工的人。

使人刻苦自己的日子，这样的禁食是我拣选的吗？难道只是叫人垂头像一根苇子，用麻布和炉灰铺在下面吗？你可以称这是禁食，为耶和华所悦纳的日子吗？

那时，约翰的门徒前来问耶稣：“为什么我们和法利赛人常常禁食，你的门徒却不禁食呢？”耶稣回答：“新郎跟宾客在一起的时候，宾客怎能哀痛呢？但到了时候，新郎就要从他们中间被取去，那时他们就要禁食了。

迫害你们的，要为他们祝福；只可祝福，不可咒诅。要与喜乐的人一同喜乐，与哀哭的人一同哀哭。

“每逢七月十日，你们要刻苦己心，无论是本地人，或是寄居在你们中间的外人，什么的工，你们都不可作，这要作你们永远的律例。
