使異邦人以我儕為笑談、使列國之人皆搖首侮慢我、

見辱於鄰邦。

The nations make jokes about us. They shake their heads at us.

You have made us a byword among the nations, a laughingstock among the peoples.

You have made us the butt of their jokes; they shake their heads at us in scorn.

You make us a joke among the nations, a laughingstock among the peoples.

You make us a proverb among the nations, A laughingstock among the peoples.

You made us an object of ridicule among the nations; foreigners treat us with contempt.

I will make them abhorrent and an offense to all the kingdoms of the earth, a reproach and a byword, a curse and an object of ridicule, wherever I banish them.

I also could speak like you, if you were in my place; I could make fine speeches against you and shake my head at you.

All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads.

You will become a thing of horror, a byword and an object of ridicule among all the peoples where the Lord will drive you.

then I will cut off Israel from the land I have given them and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. Israel will then become a byword and an object of ridicule among all peoples.

This is the day we have waited for; we have lived to see it.”The Lord has done what he planned; he has fulfilled his word, which he decreed long ago. He has overthrown you without pity, he has let the enemy gloat over you, he has exalted the horn of your foes.

“ God has made me a byword to everyone, a man in whose face people spit.

I am an object of scorn to my accusers; when they see me, they shake their heads.

then I will uproot Israel from my land, which I have given them, and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. I will make it a byword and an object of ridicule among all peoples.
