都因那辱骂毁谤人的声音，又因仇敌和报仇人的缘故。

因为咒骂和毁谤我的人讥笑我，仇敌报复我。

这是因辱骂者和亵渎者的声音，是因仇敌和报复者的缘故。

都因那辱罵毀謗人的聲音，又因仇敵和報仇人的緣故。

都因那嘲罵毁謗之人的聲音，又因仇敵和報仇之人的緣故。

這是因辱罵者和褻瀆者的聲音，是因仇敵和報復者的緣故。

乃因侮慢與詬詈者之聲、仇敵及報復者之勢兮、

皆因聞侮謗詬詈之聲、又因有仇敵加害於我、

此辱常蒙首。此恥常在目。

at the taunts of those who reproach and revile me, because of the enemy, who is bent on revenge.

That’s because they laugh at me and attack me with their words. They want to get even with me.

at the sound of the taunter and reviler, at the sight of the enemy and the avenger.

All we hear are the taunts of our mockers. All we see are our vengeful enemies.

Because of the voice of one who taunts and reviles, Because of the presence of the enemy and the avenger.

Because of the voice of him who reproaches and reviles, Because of the enemy and the avenger.

For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth, By reason of the enemy and the avenger.

before the vindictive enemy who ridicules and insults me.

at the taunt of one who reproaches and verbally abuses, because of the enemy and the avenger.

Because of Your adversaries, You have established a stronghold from the mouths of children and nursing infants to silence the enemy and the avenger.

Who is it you have mocked and blasphemed? Who have you raised your voice against and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!You have mocked the Lord through your servants. You have said,“ With my many chariots I have gone up to the heights of the mountains, to the far recesses of Lebanon. I cut down its tallest cedars, its choice cypress trees. I came to its distant heights, its densest forest.

God, how long will the enemy mock? Will the foe insult Your name forever?

They said to him,“ This is what Hezekiah says:‘ Today is a day of distress, rebuke, and disgrace, for children have come to the point of birth, and there is no strength to deliver them.Perhaps Yahweh your God will hear all the words of the Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria sent to mock the living God, and will rebuke him for the words that Yahweh your God has heard. Therefore offer a prayer for the surviving remnant.’”

Remember this: the enemy has mocked Yahweh, and a foolish people has insulted Your name.

Listen closely, Lord, and hear; open Your eyes, Lord, and see. Hear all the words that Sennacherib has sent to mock the living God.

Pay back sevenfold to our neighbors the reproach they have hurled at You, Lord.

Rise up, God, defend Your cause! Remember the insults that fools bring against You all day long.Do not forget the clamor of Your adversaries, the tumult of Your opponents that goes up constantly.
