Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.

You are the one I’ve really sinned against. I’ve done what is evil in your sight. So you are right when you sentence me. You are fair when you judge me.

David responded to Nathan,“ I have sinned against the LORD.” Then Nathan replied to David,“ And the LORD has taken away your sin; you will not die.However, because you treated the LORD with such contempt in this matter, the son born to you will die.”

Then God said to him in the dream,“ Yes, I know that you did this with a clear conscience. I have also kept you from sinning against me. Therefore I have not let you touch her.

No one in this house is greater than I am. He has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. So how could I do this immense evil, and how could I sin against God?”

The son said to him,‘ Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. I’m no longer worthy to be called your son.’

“ When someone sins and offends the LORD by deceiving his neighbor in regard to a deposit, a security, or a robbery; or defrauds his neighbor;or finds something lost and lies about it; or swears falsely about any of the sinful things a person may do—once he has sinned and acknowledged his guilt— he must return what he stole or defrauded, or the deposit entrusted to him, or the lost item he found,or anything else about which he swore falsely. He will make full restitution for it and add a fifth of its value to it. He is to pay it to its owner on the day he acknowledges his guilt.Then he is to bring his guilt offering to the LORD: an unblemished ram from the flock according to your assessment of its value as a guilt offering to the priest.In this way the priest will make atonement on his behalf before the LORD, and he will be forgiven for anything he may have done to incur guilt.”

They sacrificed their sons and daughters in the fire and practiced divination and interpreted omens. They devoted themselves to do what was evil in the LORD’s sight and angered him.

He sacrificed his son in the fire, practiced witchcraft and divination, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did a huge amount of evil in the LORD’s sight, angering him.

For he who said, Do not commit adultery, also said, Do not murder. So if you do not commit adultery, but you murder, you are a lawbreaker.

I heard the angel of the waters say, You are just, the Holy One, who is and who was, because you have passed judgment on these things.

Why then have you despised the LORD’s command by doing what I consider evil? You struck down Uriah the Hethite with the sword and took his wife as your own wife— you murdered him with the Ammonite’s sword.Now therefore, the sword will never leave your house because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hethite to be your own wife.’

Whoever sheds human blood, by humans his blood will be shed, for God made humans in his image.

If, however, you show favoritism, you commit sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.

Now Er, Judah’s firstborn, was evil in the LORD’s sight, and the LORD put him to death.

Because of your hardened and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment is revealed.

It is a guilt offering; he is indeed guilty before the LORD.”

They sang the song of God’s servant Moses and the song of the Lamb: Great and awe-inspiring are your works, Lord God, the Almighty; just and true are your ways, King of the nations.Lord, who will not fear and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All the nations will come and worship before you because your righteous acts have been revealed.

The heavens proclaim his righteousness, for God is the Judge. Selah

because he has set a day when he is going to judge the world in righteousness by the man he has appointed. He has provided proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”

On high, he summons heaven and earth in order to judge his people:

( And when all the people, including the tax collectors, heard this, they acknowledged God’s way of righteousness, because they had been baptized with John’s baptism.

Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True, and with justice he judges and makes war.
