神啊，你不是丟棄了我們嗎？神啊，你不和我們的軍兵同去嗎？

神哪，你不會拋棄了我們吧？神哪，你不與我們的隊伍一同出征嗎？

上帝歟、爾非棄我乎、上帝歟、爾不與我軍偕出兮、

惟爾上帝、素棄我躬、惟爾上帝、今率予軍旅兮。

豈非天主乎、現今主竟棄絕我儕、不率我軍旅出徵、

摩瓦作盤。夷東置屩。菲莉之野。供我歡躍。

Is it not you, God, you who have now rejected us and no longer go out with our armies?

God, isn’t it you, even though you have now turned away from us? Isn’t it you, even though you don’t lead our armies into battle anymore?

Have you not rejected us, O God? You do not go forth, O God, with our armies.

Have you rejected us, O God? Will you no longer march with our armies?

God, haven’t you rejected us? God, you do not march out with our armies.

Have You Yourself not rejected us, God? And will You not go out with our armies, God?

Is it not You, O God, who cast us off? And You, O God, who did not go out with our armies?

Hast not thou, O God, cast us off? And thou goest not forth, O God, with our hosts.

God, haven’t You rejected us? God, You do not march out with our armies.

[ Wilt] not thou, O God,[ which] hadst cast us off? and[ thou], O God,[ which] didst not go out with our armies?

Have you not rejected us, O God? O God, you do not go into battle with our armies.

Haven’t you, God, rejected us? You don’t go out with our armies, God.

That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their backs and run because they have been made liable to destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy whatever among you is devoted to destruction. (niv)

You have rejected us, God, and burst upon us; you have been angry— now restore us! (niv)

But the Lord said to me,“ Tell them,‘ Do not go up and fight, because I will not be with you. You will be defeated by your enemies.’” (niv)

Hearing the uproar, the Philistines asked,“ What’s all this shouting in the Hebrew camp?” When they learned that the ark of the Lord had come into the camp,the Philistines were afraid.“ A god has come into the camp,” they said.“ Oh no! Nothing like this has happened before. (niv)

All these kings and their lands Joshua conquered in one campaign, because the Lord, the God of Israel, fought for Israel. (niv)

So the Philistines fought, and the Israelites were defeated and every man fled to his tent. The slaughter was very great; Israel lost thirty thousand foot soldiers.The ark of God was captured, and Eli’s two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, died. (niv)

Now the Philistines fought against Israel; the Israelites fled before them, and many fell dead on Mount Gilboa.The Philistines were in hot pursuit of Saul and his sons, and they killed his sons Jonathan, Abinadab and Malki- Shua.The fighting grew fierce around Saul, and when the archers overtook him, they wounded him.Saul said to his armor-bearer,“ Draw your sword and run me through, or these uncircumcised fellows will come and abuse me.” But his armor-bearer was terrified and would not do it; so Saul took his own sword and fell on it.When the armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he too fell on his sword and died.So Saul and his three sons died, and all his house died together.When all the Israelites in the valley saw that the army had fled and that Saul and his sons had died, they abandoned their towns and fled. And the Philistines came and occupied them.The next day, when the Philistines came to strip the dead, they found Saul and his sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.They stripped him and took his head and his armor, and sent messengers throughout the land of the Philistines to proclaim the news among their idols and their people.They put his armor in the temple of their gods and hung up his head in the temple of Dagon.When all the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead heard what the Philistines had done to Saul,all their valiant men went and took the bodies of Saul and his sons and brought them to Jabesh. Then they buried their bones under the great tree in Jabesh, and they fasted seven days.Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord; he did not keep the word of the Lord and even consulted a medium for guidance,and did not inquire of the Lord. So the Lord put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse. (niv)

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. (niv)

In that day you will say:“ I will praise you, Lord. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me.Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.” (niv)

“ Have you not noticed that these people are saying,‘ The Lord has rejected the two kingdoms he chose’? So they despise my people and no longer regard them as a nation.This is what the Lord says:‘ If I have not made my covenant with day and night and established the laws of heaven and earth,then I will reject the descendants of Jacob and David my servant and will not choose one of his sons to rule over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. For I will restore their fortunes and have compassion on them.’” (niv)

I will wait for the Lord, who is hiding his face from the descendants of Jacob. I will put my trust in him. (niv)

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I cut them down. (niv)

Through you we push back our enemies; through your name we trample our foes.I put no trust in my bow, my sword does not bring me victory;but you give us victory over our enemies, you put our adversaries to shame.In God we make our boast all day long, and we will praise your name forever.But now you have rejected and humbled us; you no longer go out with our armies. (niv)

For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.” (niv)
