Moab serves me like one who washes my feet. I toss my sandal on Edom to show that I own it. I shout to Philistia that I have won the battle.”

After this it came to pass that David attacked the Philistines and subdued them. And David took Metheg Ammah from the hand of the Philistines.Then he defeated Moab. Forcing them down to the ground, he measured them off with a line. With two lines he measured off those to be put to death, and with one full line those to be kept alive. So the Moabites became David’s servants, and brought tribute.

He also put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became David’s servants. And the Lord preserved David wherever he went.

After this it came to pass that David attacked the Philistines, subdued them, and took Gath and its towns from the hand of the Philistines.Then he defeated Moab, and the Moabites became David’s servants, and brought tribute.

And the Lord said to her:“ Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples shall be separated from your body; One people shall be stronger than the other, And the older shall serve the younger.”

Moab is My washpot; Over Edom I will cast My shoe; Over Philistia I will triumph.”Who will bring me into the strong city? Who will lead me to Edom?

“ And Edom shall be a possession; Seir also, his enemies, shall be a possession, While Israel does valiantly.

He also put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became David’s servants. And the Lord preserved David wherever he went.

Now when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. Will You deliver them into my hand?” And the Lord said to David,“ Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand.”So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said,“ The Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim.And they left their images there, and David and his men carried them away.Then the Philistines went up once again and deployed themselves in the Valley of Rephaim.Therefore David inquired of the Lord, and He said,“ You shall not go up; circle around behind them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees.And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly. For then the Lord will go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”And David did so, as the Lord commanded him; and he drove back the Philistines from Geba as far as Gezer.

By your sword you shall live, And you shall serve your brother; And it shall come to pass, when you become restless, That you shall break his yoke from your neck.”

When the Philistines were at war again with Israel, David and his servants with him went down and fought against the Philistines; and David grew faint.Then Ishbi-Benob, who was one of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose bronze spear was three hundred shekels, who was bearing a new sword, thought he could kill David.But Abishai the son of Zeruiah came to his aid, and struck the Philistine and killed him. Then the men of David swore to him, saying,“ You shall go out no more with us to battle, lest you quench the lamp of Israel.”Now it happened afterward that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob. Then Sibbechai the Hushathite killed Saph, who was one of the sons of the giant.Again there was war at Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare-Oregim the Bethlehemite killed the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.Yet again there was war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in number; and he also was born to the giant.So when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea, David’s brother, killed him.These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
