For I have endured insults because of You, and shame has covered my face.

我為爾受詬詈、羞慚蔽我面兮、

予為爾受凌辱、抱愧怍兮、

緣我為主受毀謗、滿面蒙羞、

惟不欲因予之故兮。而貽恃主者以慚惶。更不欲因予之故兮。而致求主者之失望。

For I endure scorn for your sake, and shame covers my face.

Because of you, people laugh at me. My face is covered with shame.

For it is for your sake that I have borne reproach, that dishonor has covered my face.

For I endure insults for your sake; humiliation is written all over my face.

For I have endured insults because of you, and shame has covered my face.

Because for Your sake I have endured disgrace; Dishonor has covered my face.

Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; Shame has covered my face.

Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; Shame hath covered my face.

Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.

For I suffer humiliation for your sake and am thoroughly disgraced.

Because for your sake, I have borne reproach. Shame has covered my face.

You know, Lord; remember me and take note of me. Avenge me against my persecutors. In Your patience, don’t take me away. Know that I suffer disgrace for Your honor.

I gave My back to those who beat Me, and My cheeks to those who tore out My beard. I did not hide My face from scorn and spitting.

Because of You we are slain all day long; we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered.

keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne.

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering who knew what sickness was. He was like someone people turned away from; He was despised, and we didn’t value Him.

But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by men and despised by people.Everyone who sees me mocks me; they sneer and shake their heads:“ He relies on the Lord; let Him rescue him; let the Lord deliver him, since He takes pleasure in him.”

The people stood watching, and even the leaders kept scoffing:“ He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One!”The soldiers also mocked Him. They came offering Him sour wineand said,“ If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself!”

My disgrace is before me all day long, and shame has covered my face,

But they will do all these things to you on account of My name, because they don’t know the One who sent Me.If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin. Now they have no excuse for their sin.The one who hates Me also hates My Father.If I had not done the works among them that no one else has done, they would not have sin. Now they have seen and hated both Me and My Father.

They twisted together a crown of thorns, put it on His head, and placed a reed in His right hand. And they knelt down before Him and mocked Him:“ Hail, King of the Jews!”Then they spit on Him, took the reed, and kept hitting Him on the head.

Then Herod, with his soldiers, treated Him with contempt, mocked Him, dressed Him in a brilliant robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.

Then two criminals were crucified with Him, one on the right and one on the left.Those who passed by were yelling insults at Him, shaking their headsand saying,“ The One who would demolish the sanctuary and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross!”In the same way the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked Him and said,“ He saved others, but He cannot save Himself! He is the King of Israel! Let Him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in Him.He has put His trust in God; let God rescue Him now— if He wants Him! For He said,‘ I am God’s Son.’”In the same way even the criminals who were crucified with Him kept taunting Him.

Then they spit in His face and beat Him; others slapped Himand said,“ Prophesy to us, Messiah! Who hit You?”
