“ But my people would not listen to me; Israel would not submit to me.

But my people didn’t listen to my voice. Israel desired none of me.

When the people saw that Moses delayed in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said to him,“ Get up, make us gods that will go before us. As for this fellow Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him!”

You have forgotten the Rock who fathered you, and put out of mind the God who gave you birth.

I also explicitly commanded them:“ Obey me. If you do, I will be your God and you will be my people. Live exactly the way I tell you and things will go well with you.”But they did not listen to me or pay any attention to me. They followed the stubborn inclinations of their own wicked hearts. They acted worse and worse instead of better.

But Jeshurun became fat and kicked, you got fat, thick, and stuffed! Then he deserted the God who made him, and treated the Rock who saved him with contempt.

Has a nation ever changed its gods( even though they are not really gods at all)? But my people have exchanged me, their glorious God, for a god that cannot help them at all!Be amazed at this, O heavens! How much greater punishment do you think that person deserves who has contempt for the Son of God, and profanes the blood of the covenant that made him holy, and insults the Spirit of grace?

“ But they refused to pay attention, turning away stubbornly and stopping their ears so they could not hear.

They believed his promises; they sang praises to him.They quickly forgot what he had done; they did not wait for his instructions.
