I will punish their sin with the rod, their iniquity with flogging;

我要作他的父，他要作我的子；他若犯了罪，我必用人的杖，用世人的鞭責罰他。

因為主所愛的，他必管教，又鞭打他所接納的每一個孩子。」為了受管教，你們要忍受。神待你們如同待兒女。哪有兒女不被父親管教的呢？管教原是眾兒女共同所領受的；你們若不受管教，就是私生子，不是兒女了。再者，我們曾有肉身之父管教我們，我們尚且敬重他，何況靈性之父，我們豈不更當順服他而得生命嗎？肉身之父都是短時間隨己意管教我們，惟有靈性之父管教我們是要我們得益處，使我們在他的聖潔上有份。凡管教的事，當時不覺得快樂，反覺得痛苦；後來卻為那經過鍛鍊的人結出平安的果子，就是義的果子。

願他使他的杖離開我，不使他的威嚴恐嚇我，

我必因這事使大衛的後裔遭受患難，但不是永遠的。』」

我兒啊，不可輕看耶和華的管教，也不可厭煩他的責備，因為耶和華所愛的，他必責備，正如父親責備所喜愛的兒子。

對耶羅波安說：「你可以拿十片。耶和華－以色列的神如此說：『看哪，我必從所羅門手裏撕裂這國，把十個支派賜給你。

所羅門行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，不像他父親大衛專心順從耶和華。

「在地上萬族中，我只認識你們；因此，我必懲罰你們一切的罪孽。」

耶和華使以東人哈達興起，作所羅門的敵人；他是以東王的後裔。

現在你去，領這百姓往我所告訴你的地方去，看哪，我的使者必在你的前面引路。到了該懲罰的時候，我必懲罰他們的罪。」

我們若是先省察自己，就不至於受審判。我們受審判的時候，就是被主管教，這樣就免得和世人一同被定罪。
