我对你们说实话，在以利亚的时候，天闭塞了三年六个月，遍地有大饥荒，那时，以色列中有许多寡妇，

住在基列的提斯比人以利亚对亚哈说：“我指着所事奉永生的耶和华—以色列的神起誓，这几年我若不祷告，必不降露水，也不下雨。”

耶和华如此说：看哪，我要用我手里的杖击打尼罗河中的水，水就变成血；这样，你就知道我是耶和华。河里的鱼必死，河也要发臭，埃及人就厌恶喝这河里的水。’”耶和华对摩西说：“你要对亚伦说：‘拿你的杖，伸出你的手在埃及所有的水上，在他们的江、河、池塘，所有水聚集的地方上，叫水变成血。在埃及全地，无论在木器中，石器中，都必有血。’”摩西和亚伦就照耶和华所吩咐的去做。亚伦在法老和他臣仆眼前举杖击打尼罗河里的水，河里的水都变成血了。河里的鱼死了，河也臭了，埃及人就不能喝这河里的水；埃及遍地都有了血。但是，埃及的术士也用邪术照样做了；法老心里刚硬，不听摩西和亚伦，正如耶和华所说的。法老转身回宫去，并不把这事放在心上。所有的埃及人都沿着尼罗河边挖掘，要找水喝，因为他们不能喝河里的水。耶和华击打尼罗河后，过了七天。

所以，你们要彼此认罪，互相代求，使你们得医治。义人祈祷所发的力量是大有功效的。以利亚与我们是同样性情的人，他恳切地祈求不要下雨，地上就三年六个月没有下雨。他又祷告，天就降下雨来，地就有了出产。

他差遣他的仆人摩西和他所拣选的亚伦，在敌人中间显他的神迹，在含地显他的奇事。他差遣黑暗，就有黑暗；他们没有违背他的话。他使埃及的水变为血，令他们的鱼死了。在他们的地上，青蛙多多滋生，王宫的内室也是如此。他一吩咐，苍蝇就成群飞来，并有蚊子进入他们四境。他给他们降下冰雹为雨，在他们的地上降下火焰。他击打他们的葡萄树和无花果树，毁坏他们境内的树木。他一吩咐，就有蝗虫蝻子上来，不计其数，吃光他们地上各样的菜蔬，吞尽他们田地的出产。他又击杀他们国内所有的长子，就是他们强壮时头生的。

耶和华的话又临到我，说：“你，人子啊，主耶和华对以色列地如此说：结局，结局临到了地的四境！现在你的结局已经来临；我要使我的怒气临到你，也要按你的行为审判你，照你所做一切可憎的事惩罚你。我的眼必不顾惜你，也不可怜你，却要按你所做的报应你，照你们中间可憎的事惩罚你；你就知道我是耶和华。“主耶和华如此说：灾难，惟一的灾难，看哪，临近了！结局到了，结局到了，它要醒起来攻击你。看哪，它已来到！境内的居民哪，厄运临到你；时候到了，日子近了，有闹哄，但不是山上欢呼的声音。我快要将我的愤怒倾倒在你身上，向你发尽我的怒气，按你的行为审判你，照你所做一切可憎的事惩罚你。我的眼必不顾惜你，也不可怜你，必按你所做的报应你，照你中间可憎的事惩罚你；你就知道击打你的是我—耶和华。“看哪，那日子！看哪，已来到！厄运已经发生！杖已开花，骄傲已发芽。残暴兴起，成了罚恶的杖。他们将一无所有，他们的富足、他们的财宝都不复存在；他们中间也不再有尊荣。时候到了，日子近了，买主不可欢喜，卖主也不用愁烦，因为烈怒已经临到他们众人身上。
