我立於海沙、見一獸由海而上、七首十角、角戴十冕、褻瀆名號書於首上、

又現異象於天、有一巨赤龍、七首十角、首戴七冕、

我感於神、天使攜我至野、見一婦乘絳獸、獸有七首十角、褻瀆名號、遍書於體、

作證既畢、自大淵而上之獸、將與之戰、勝而殺之、

彼曰、第四獸、即世間將有之第四國也、異於諸國、並吞天下、破碎蹂躪、其十角即此國中將興之十王、其後別興一王、異於前者、將服三王、向至上者出言誇大、困苦至上者之聖民、欲改時易法、聖民被付於其手、一載二載半載、

斯王必任意而行、自高自大、侮慢諸神、以狂妄反常之詞、褻瀆諸神之主、所行無不亨通、直至主怒民降罰已畢、蓋所定之事必應驗、

但以理曰、我夜間見異象、見天四方之風、驟起向大海而吹、驟起向大海而吹或作驟起戰於大海四獸甚巨、自海而出、其狀各異、

此後我於夜間異象中、又見一獸、即第四獸、可恐可懼、極其剛強、有大鐵齒、吞噬嚼碎一切、所餘者、踐之以足、與先諸獸、迥不相同、首有十角、我觀其角時、見其中別生一小角、前角中三角、見拔於小角前、此角有目、若人目、有口出言誇大、

爾所見之獸、與其十角、將憾淫婦、使之貧窮裸體、食其肉、焚之以火、

我但以理欲知第四獸之實、何為異於他獸、甚可畏懼、鐵齒銅爪、吞食嚼碎一切、以足踐其所餘、首有十角、又別生一角、三角墮於其前、其角有目、有口出言誇大、其狀較他角尤大、

天使問我曰、爾何驚駭、婦與所乘七首十角之獸、我將以其奧義示爾、爾所見之獸、昔有今無、後必出自深淵、終歸於沈淪、凡居地之人、自創世以來、其名未錄於生命册者、見獸昔有今無、後將復有、遂甚奇異、有智慧者、可悟其義、七首、乃婦所坐之七山、亦為七王、五王已傾、一王尚在、一王尚未至、及至惟存片時、昔有今無之獸、乃第八王、亦列於七王中、終歸淪亡、爾所見之十角、乃十王、尚未得國、惟片時偕獸秉權如王、

我見彷彿有玻璃海、中雜以火、凡勝獸並其像、其印誌、與其名數者、皆立於玻璃海上、手執天主之琴、

主曰、爾豈可不畏我、不戰慄於我前、我定沙為海界、水不得越、波浪奔騰、不能漲溢、洪濤洶湧、不能踰越、

又予獸以口、能言誇大褻瀆之言、又予之權、可任意行事、可任意行事有原文抄本作可任意爭戰凡四十二月、獸啟口謗讟天主、謗讟天主之名、與其殿、及凡居於天者、

人用何法、皆勿為其所惑、蓋其日未至、必先有叛教之事、且彼罪惡之人、即沈淪之子必將顯出、彼惡者敵天主、妄自尊崇、超軼凡稱為主、凡受人崇拜者、甚至坐於天主殿、髣髴天主、且自言為天主、

有名書於其額、曰、隱秘、大邑巴比倫、或作有奧名書於其額曰巴比倫大邑世之諸淫婦及可憎者之母、
