王應時說：『這豈不是大巴比倫，我用我財力的權勢所建築、做王家宮殿，要顯示我威嚴之光榮的麼？』

永恆主以色列的上帝對我這麼說：『你把這杯烈怒的酒從我手中接過去，叫我所差遣你到的列國的人喝。他們喝了就會搖搖晃晃，瘋瘋癲癲，是因為刀劍的緣故，就是我所打發到他們中間去的。』

他們的屍體必倒在那大城的街道上。這城按靈意叫所多瑪，叫埃及，又是他們的主被釘十字架的地方。

她的額上寫着名字、有象徵的奧祕：「大巴比倫、地上淫婦之母、可憎之物之母！」

『有禍啊！有禍啊！那大城！那披着細麻、紫袍和朱紅袍、用金子、寶石、珍珠、為妝飾的！一時之間這麼大的財富已變為荒涼了！』每一個船長、每一個航行往別處去的和水手們、以及凡作海業的、都在遠處站着，看見她被焚燒的煙就喊着說：『哪一個城能比得過那大城呢？』他們把塵土撒在頭上，哭泣哀慟喊着說：『有禍啊！有禍啊！那大城！那城裏頭凡有船在海中的、由她的珍寶而得財富的、有禍啊！一時之間她已變為荒涼了！

另有一位第二位天使跟着說：『傾覆了，傾覆了，大巴比倫，那曾叫列國喝她猛烈淫亂之酒的！』另有一位第三位天使跟着他們，大聲地說：『人若拜獸和獸的像，受印記在額上或手上，就必須喝上帝震怒的酒，那在他義怒杯中調好了而不參雜的。那人必須在聖天使們面前和羔羊面前、在火跟硫磺之中受苦痛。

北方遠近的列王、一個一個、以及地上萬國、住在這地面上的——都喝了；以後巴比倫王也必喝。

他用強有力的聲音喊着說：『大巴比倫傾覆了！傾覆了！成了鬼魔居住的所在，各樣污穢之靈的巢穴，各樣污穢可恨之鳥的巢穴了。
