Do not lag in zeal, be enthusiastic in spirit, serve the Lord.

“ No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

since he is a double- minded individual, unstable in all his ways.

Elijah approached all the people and said,“ How long are you going to be paralyzed by indecision? If the LORD is the true God, then follow him, but if Baal is, follow him!” But the people did not say a word.

And I pray this, that your love may abound even more and more in knowledge and every kind of insight

and because lawlessness will increase so much, the love of many will grow cold.

But I have this against you: You have departed from your first love!

But my people did not obey me; Israel did not submit to me.I gave them over to their stubborn desires; they did what seemed right to them.If only my people would obey me! If only Israel would keep my commands!

For I am afraid that somehow when I come I will not find you what I wish, and you will find me not what you wish. I am afraid that somehow there may be quarreling, jealousy, intense anger, selfish ambition, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorder.

I will remove those who worship the stars in the sky from their rooftops, those who swear allegiance to the LORD while taking oaths in the name of their‘ king,’and those who turn their backs on the LORD and do not want the LORD’s help or guidance.”

Give me your heart, my son, and let your eyes observe my ways;

If only it would really be their desire to fear me and obey all my commandments in the future, so that it may go well with them and their descendants forever.

You have purified your souls by obeying the truth in order to show sincere mutual love. So love one another earnestly from a pure heart.

‘ I know your works as well as your labor and steadfast endurance, and that you cannot tolerate evil. You have even put to the test those who refer to themselves as apostles( but are not), and have discovered that they are false.

“ To the angel of the church in Sardis write the following:“ This is the solemn pronouncement of the one who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars:‘ I know your deeds, that you have a reputation that you are alive, but in reality you are dead.

Their heart is slipping; soon they will be punished for their guilt. The LORD will break their altars; he will completely destroy their fertility pillars.

We ought to thank God always for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith flourishes more and more and the love of each one of you all for one another is ever greater.

“ Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Whoever does not carry his own cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.For which of you, wanting to build a tower, doesn’t sit down first and compute the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it?

If you have no desire to worship the LORD, choose today whom you will worship, whether it be the gods whom your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. But I and my family will worship the LORD!”The people responded,“ Far be it from us to abandon the LORD so we can worship other gods!For the LORD our God took us and our fathers out of slavery in the land of Egypt and performed these awesome miracles before our very eyes. He continually protected us as we traveled and when we passed through nations.The LORD drove out from before us all the nations, including the Amorites who lived in the land. So we too will worship the LORD, for he is our God!”Joshua warned the people,“ You will not keep worshiping the LORD, for he is a holy God. He is a jealous God who will not forgive your rebellion or your sins.If you abandon the LORD and worship foreign gods, he will turn against you; he will bring disaster on you and destroy you, though he once treated you well.”The people said to Joshua,“ No! We really will worship the LORD!”Joshua said to the people,“ Do you agree to be witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen to worship the LORD?” They replied,“ We are witnesses!”Joshua said,“ Now put aside the foreign gods that are among you and submit to the LORD God of Israel.”The people said to Joshua,“ We will worship the LORD our God and obey him.”

Let anyone who has no love for the Lord be accursed. Our Lord, come!

Ephraim has mixed itself like flour among the nations; Ephraim is like a ruined cake of bread that is scorched on one side.
