蝗蟲吃剩的，蝻子來吃；蝻子吃剩的，蚱蜢來吃；蚱蜢吃剩的，螞蚱來吃。

「我派蝻蟲、蚱蜢、螞蚱和蝗蟲大軍在那些年所吃掉的，我要補償你們。

但不可殺死他們，只折磨他們五個月。那種折磨就像被蠍子蟄到一樣。

牠們像蠍子一樣尾巴上有毒鉤，可以折磨人五個月。牠們的王是無底坑的天使，希伯來文名叫亞巴頓，希臘文名叫亞玻倫，意思是「毀滅者」。

我父親使你們負重擔，我要使你們負更重的擔子；我父親用鞭子打你們，我要用刺鞭打你們。』」

米甸人、亞瑪力人及東方人像蝗蟲一樣佈滿山谷，他們的駱駝如海邊的沙一樣不計其數。

但在那裡，火要吞噬你，刀劍要殺戮你，要像蝗蟲吞沒你。你只管像蝗蟲一樣繁殖，如蚱蜢一般增多吧！

這次你若再不答應，明天我要使蝗蟲飛入你的國境。牠們鋪天蓋地，要吃光冰雹過後田間所剩的，包括一切樹木。你的王宮及臣僕和所有埃及人的房屋都要佈滿蝗蟲，這是你祖祖輩輩從未見過的蝗災。』」摩西說完，便轉身離開法老。臣僕對法老說：「這個人還要給我們添多少麻煩呢？讓他們離開去事奉他們的上帝耶和華吧！埃及已經快崩潰了，你不知道嗎？」法老便召摩西和亞倫進宮，對他們說：「你們去事奉你們的上帝耶和華吧！但你們誰要去呢？」摩西回答說：「我們男女老幼都要去，還有我們的牛群和羊群，因為我們要去守耶和華的節期，向祂獻祭。」法老聽後，說：「我若讓你們帶走婦女和孩子，最好耶和華能保護你們！你們真是居心叵測。不行！只有男子可以去事奉耶和華，這是你們一直要求的。」法老說完，便下令把他們趕出去。耶和華對摩西說：「你向埃及伸杖，使蝗蟲飛來吃盡冰雹過後剩下的植物。」摩西就向埃及伸杖。耶和華使東風在埃及境內颳了整整一天一夜，到早晨，東風帶來了蝗蟲。埃及到處都佈滿了蝗蟲，數目之多實在是空前絕後。整個埃及鋪滿蝗蟲，地上一片黑暗。這些蝗蟲吃盡了冰雹過後剩下的農作物和樹上的果子，沒有留下一點青綠。

帶領你們走過乾旱、可怕、毒蛇和蠍子出沒的大曠野。祂使堅硬的磐石流出水來給你們喝，

人子啊，不要怕他們和他們的話，雖然你周圍佈滿荊棘和毒蠍，也不要害怕。他們是一群叛逆的人，你不要怕他們的話，也不要因為他們的臉色而驚慌。

他們的戰利品必被拿走，就像穀物被蝗蟲吃掉一樣；人們像蝗蟲一樣撲向他們的戰利品。

你的臣僕像蝗蟲，你的將領像成群的蚱蜢。牠們寒日聚集在牆上，太陽一出來就飛走了，無人知道牠們的行蹤。

我已經給你們權柄，使你們能踐踏蛇和蠍子，勝過仇敵的權勢，沒有什麼能傷害你們。
