不崇永生上帝之榮、反拜速朽世人禽獸昆蟲之像、

以永生不可壞天主之榮、易以偶像、髣髴可壞之人、及禽獸昆蟲之形、

忍棄永生者天主之真榮、而易以必朽者人類禽獸蛇蟲之偶像。

They would rather have statues of gods than the glorious God who lives forever. Their statues of gods are made to look like people, birds, animals and reptiles.

將他們榮耀的主換為吃草之牛的像，

豈有一國換了它的神明嗎？其實那不是神明！但我的百姓將他們的榮耀換了那無益的東西。

他們將神的真實變為虛謊，去敬拜事奉受造之物，不敬奉那造物的主－主是可稱頌的，直到永遠。阿們！

既然我們是神所生的，就不應該以為神的神性像人用手藝和心思所雕刻的金、銀、石像一般。

於是我進去看。看哪，四面牆上刻着各樣爬行的動物、可憎的走獸和以色列家各樣的偶像。

有口卻不能言，有眼卻不能看，有耳卻不能聽，有鼻卻不能聞，有手卻不能摸，有腳卻不能走，有喉卻不能說話。造它們的要像它們一樣，凡靠它們的也必如此。

你們知道，你們作外邦人的時候，隨事被引誘，受了迷惑去拜不會出聲的偶像。

「『不可為自己雕刻偶像，也不可做甚麼形像，彷彿上天、下地和地底下水中的百物。

「所以，你們為自己的緣故要分外謹慎；因為耶和華在何烈山，從火中對你們說話的那日，你們沒有看見任何形像。惟恐你們的行為敗壞，為自己雕刻任何形狀的偶像，無論是男像或女像，或地上任何走獸的像，或任何飛在空中有翅膀的鳥的像，或地上任何爬行動物的像，或地底下任何水中魚的像。

你們究竟將誰比神，用甚麼形像與他相較呢？

你們要向上舉目，看是誰創造這萬象，按數目領出它們，一一稱其名，以他的權能和他的大能大力，使它們一個都不缺。

因為你們從前隨從外邦人的心意，生活在淫蕩、情慾、醉酒、荒宴、狂飲和可憎的偶像崇拜中，時候已經夠了。

木匠拉線，用筆劃出樣子，用鉋子鉋成形狀，又用圓規劃了模樣。他仿照人的體態，做出美妙的人形，放在廟裏。

外邦的偶像是金的，是銀的，是人手所造的，有口卻不能言，有眼卻不能看，有耳卻不能聽，口中也沒有氣息。造它們的要像它們一樣，凡靠它們的也必如此。

其餘未曾被這些災難所殺的人仍舊不為自己手所做的悔改，還是去拜鬼魔和那些不能看、不能聽、不能走，用金、銀、銅、木、石所造的偶像。
