然而苟不信之、何由籲之、苟不聞之、何由信之；苟不傳之、何有聞之；

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

How can they call on him unless they believe in him? How can they believe in him unless they hear about him? How can they hear about him unless someone preaches to them?

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

耶穌曰、爾曹往普天之下、宣福音於萬民、信而受洗者得救、不信者擬罪、

惟屆期以宣布昭著其道、乃依拯救我儕之上帝命而託我者也、

曰、記有之、基督當受難、三日自死復起、且以其名傳改悔、及赦罪之道於萬邦、自耶路撒冷始焉、

爾果聞之、且由之受教、依耶穌之真、

夫由信之祈禱、可救病者、主將起之、或干罪、亦將赦之、

我將拯爾於斯民、及異邦中、即今遣爾就之者、俾啟其目、使之離暗就光、脫撒但之權、而歸上帝、致得罪赦、同獲因信成聖之業、

我儕由彼受恩、及使徒職、使萬邦緣其名因信而服、

尼尼微民信上帝、宣告禁食、自尊逮卑、皆衣麻焉、斯音傳至尼尼微王、遂起、下位解袍、衣麻坐於灰塵、乃與諸伯出諭、布告尼尼微曰、或人或畜、牛羣羊羣、俱勿嘗食、勿食勿飲、人畜俱披麻、眾皆切求上帝、各轉離其惡途、去其手之強暴、上帝或回心轉意、息其烈怒、俾我不亡、亦未可知、

曰、我乃希伯來人、畏天上上帝耶和華、造滄海與陸地者也、眾懼甚、謂之曰、爾所為何事、其人咸知彼乃逃避耶和華者、蓋已告之也、又謂之曰、我當何以待爾、使海為我而恬靜乎、因海久而愈盪、

外乎信則不見悅、就上帝者、必信其有、且信其賞賚求之者也、

曰、無啟迪者、安能通曉乎、遂請腓利升車偕坐、

第錄此、俾爾信耶穌為基督上帝子、信之、則以其名得生也、

爾信時曾受聖神否、對曰、聖神之臨、我未之聞也、

舟子恐、各籲其神、擲舟中貨於海以輕之、約拿已下內艙、臥而沉睡、

至於外族、不屬爾民以色列者、為爾之名而至、蓋彼必聞爾之大名、能手奮臂、自遠方來、向斯室祈禱、願爾在天爾之居所垂聽、依外族所祈者而行、使天下億兆、咸知爾名、而寅畏爾、如爾民以色列然、亦知我所建之室、以爾名稱之、

眾甚畏耶和華、向之獻祭許願、
