Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.

What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?You desire but do not have, so you kill. At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. (niv)

but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me.What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? (niv)

These people are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage. (niv)
