For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.

蓋我知我形軀中無善、雖志於善、而未能行也、

亦知我情欲中無懿德、因好之者雖在前、而行其善者不得也、

我亦知我中、即在我肉體中、無有善、雖願為善、而為善不得、

吾知寓吾肉身之內者、實無片善可稱也。為善之願、未始無有；而為善之力、則未能有也。

For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

I know there is nothing good in my desires controlled by sin. I want to do what is good, but I can’t.

And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t.

For I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh. For the desire to do what is good is with me, but there is no ability to do it.

For I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not.

For I know that in me( that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.

For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me, but to do that which is good is not.

For I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh. For the desire to do what is good is with me, but there is no ability to do it.

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? There is not one.

Depart from me, you evildoers, that I may keep the commandments of my God.Uphold me according to your promise, that I may live, and let me not be put to shame in my hope!Hold me up, that I may be safe and have regard for your statutes continually!

For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.

And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

What is man, that he can be pure? Or he who is born of a woman, that he can be righteous?Behold, God puts no trust in his holy ones, and the heavens are not pure in his sight;how much less one who is abominable and corrupt, a man who drinks injustice like water!

for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery,coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness.All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”

And when the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma, the Lord said in his heart,“ I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the intention of man’s heart is evil from his youth. Neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done.

And you were dead in the trespasses and sinsin which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved—

The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Let your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts.

Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.

For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot.Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness.If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.

For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander.

Behold, I long for your precepts; in your righteousness give me life!

For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.

For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death.

Oh that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes!

How then can man be in the right before God? How can he who is born of woman be pure?

I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek your servant, for I do not forget your commandments.

For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.

Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions,envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God.

I will run in the way of your commandments when you enlarge my heart!

We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
