but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness, have not attained their goal.

The people of Israel tried to obey the law to make themselves right with God. But they didn’t reach their goal of being right with God.

but that Israel who pursued a law that would lead to righteousness did not succeed in reaching that law.

But the people of Israel, who tried so hard to get right with God by keeping the law, never succeeded.

But Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not achieved the righteousness of the law.

however, Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law.

but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness.

but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law.

But Israel, pursuing the law for righteousness, has not achieved the righteousness of the law.

But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.

but Israel even though pursuing a law of righteousness did not attain it.

but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, didn’t arrive at the law of righteousness.

What then? What the people of Israel sought so earnestly they did not obtain. The elect among them did, but the others were hardened, (niv)

For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.For he who said,“ You shall not commit adultery,” also said,“ You shall not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker. (niv)

Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law.You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. (niv)

as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless. (niv)

For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge.Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. (niv)

For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written:“ Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because“ the righteous will live by faith.” (niv)

What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith;but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness, have not attained their goal.Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone. (niv)

Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law. (niv)

For if those who depend on the law are heirs, faith means nothing and the promise is worthless,because the law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression. (niv)

“ Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn; (niv)

Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin. (niv)
