我想我应该让你知道这事，并建议你当着在座各位的面，当着我民中长老们的面，取得那块田。如果你要赎取就赎取吧！但如果你不赎取，请告诉我，我好知道；因为除你以外没有人可以先赎取，而我是在你之后的。”那人说：“我要赎取！”

I thought I should bring the matter to your attention and suggest that you buy it in the presence of these seated here and in the presence of the elders of my people. If you will redeem it, do so. But if you will not, tell me, so I will know. For no one has the right to do it except you, and I am next in line.”“ I will redeem it,” he said.

I thought I should speak to you about it so that you can redeem it if you wish. If you want the land, then buy it here in the presence of these witnesses. But if you don’t want it, let me know right away, because I am next in line to redeem it after you.” The man replied,“ All right, I’ll redeem it.”

I thought I should inform you: Buy it back in the presence of those seated here and in the presence of the elders of my people. If you want to redeem it, do it. But if you do not want to redeem it, tell me so that I will know, because there isn’t anyone other than you to redeem it, and I am next after you.”“ I want to redeem it,” he answered.

So I thought that I would inform you, saying,‘ Buy it before those who are sitting here, and before the elders of my people. If you will redeem it, redeem it; but if not, tell me so that I may know; for there is no one except you to redeem it, and I am after you.’ ” And he said,“ I will redeem it.”

So I am legally informing you: Acquire it before those sitting here and before the leaders of my people! If you want to exercise your right to redeem it, then do so. But if not, then tell me so I will know. For you possess the first option to redeem it; I am next in line after you.” He replied,“ I will redeem it.”

Hanamel son of Shallum your uncle is going to come to you and say,‘ Buy my field at Anathoth, because as nearest relative it is your right and duty to buy it.’“ Then, just as the Lord had said, my cousin Hanamel came to me in the courtyard of the guard and said,‘ Buy my field at Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin. Since it is your right to redeem it and possess it, buy it for yourself.’“ I knew that this was the word of the Lord;so I bought the field at Anathoth from my cousin Hanamel and weighed out for him seventeen shekels of silver.I signed and sealed the deed, had it witnessed, and weighed out the silver on the scales.I took the deed of purchase— the sealed copy containing the terms and conditions, as well as the unsealed copy—and I gave this deed to Baruch son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the presence of my cousin Hanamel and of the witnesses who had signed the deed and of all the Jews sitting in the courtyard of the guard. “‘ If one of your fellow Israelites becomes poor and sells some of their property, their nearest relative is to come and redeem what they have sold.If, however, there is no one to redeem it for them but later on they prosper and acquire sufficient means to redeem it themselves,they are to determine the value for the years since they sold it and refund the balance to the one to whom they sold it; they can then go back to their own property.But if they do not acquire the means to repay, what was sold will remain in the possession of the buyer until the Year of Jubilee. It will be returned in the Jubilee, and they can then go back to their property.“‘ Anyone who sells a house in a walled city retains the right of redemption a full year after its sale.
