此乃淫佚之邑、僭稱主母、自謂莫之與京、今變荒蕪、獸伏其間、凡過之者、必作怨憤之聲、搖首不已。

此邑素淫樂、安居無畏、心中曰、惟有我、我外無他、忽變荒蕪、獸伏之處、凡過之者、俱戲笑搖首、

This is the city of revelry that lived in safety. She said to herself,“ I am the one! And there is none besides me.” What a ruin she has become, a lair for wild beasts! All who pass by her scoff and shake their fists.

Nineveh was a carefree city. It lived in safety. It said to itself,“ I am the one! No one is greater than I am.” But it has been destroyed. Wild animals make their home there. All those who pass by laugh and shake their fists at it.

This is the exultant city that lived securely, that said in her heart,“ I am, and there is no one else.” What a desolation she has become, a lair for wild beasts! Everyone who passes by her hisses and shakes his fist.

This is the boisterous city, once so secure.“ I am the greatest!” it boasted.“ No other city can compare with me!” But now, look how it has become an utter ruin, a haven for wild animals. Everyone passing by will laugh in derision and shake a defiant fist.

This is the jubilant city that lives in security, that says to herself: I exist, and there is no one else. What a desolation she has become, a place for wild animals to lie down! Everyone who passes by her scoffs and shakes his fist.

This is the presumptuous city That dwells securely, Who says in her heart,“ I am, and there is no one besides me.” How she has become a desolation, A resting place for animals! Everyone who passes by her will hiss And wave his hand in contempt.

This is the rejoicing city That dwelt securely, That said in her heart,“ I am it, and there is none besides me.” How has she become a desolation, A place for beasts to lie down! Everyone who passes by her Shall hiss and shake his fist.

This is the joyous city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none besides me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.

This is the self-assured city that lives in security, that thinks to herself: I exist, and there is no one else. What a desolation she has become, a place for wild animals to lie down! Everyone who passes by her jeers and shakes his fist.

This[ is] the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I[ am], and[ there is] none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss,[ and] wag his hand.

This is how the once-proud city will end up– the city that was so secure. She thought to herself,“ I am unique! No one can compare to me!” What a heap of ruins she has become, a place where wild animals live! Everyone who passes by her taunts her and shakes his fist.

人子歟、當謂推羅君曰、主耶和華云、爾心驕泰、自謂我為上帝、坐上帝之位於海中、居心同乎上帝、爾仍為人、非上帝也、

自謂我必永為主母、不思此事、不慮厥終、○爾宴樂安居、自謂有我、我外無他、必不孤坐為嫠、亦不喪子、爾其聽諸、

爾傷莫能減之、爾創甚劇、凡聞爾之音耗者、必向爾鼓掌、蓋爾之兇惡、誰未屢受之耶、

充以呼號擾攘之邑、歡樂之城、爾之見殺者、非戮於鋒刃、非亡於戰陳、

亦使此邑成為怪異、被人嗤笑、凡過之者、因其所遭之禍、必駭異而嗤笑、

噫嘻是邑、昔則居民充盈、今則何其寂寞兮、昔為邦國之長、今如嫠婦兮、昔於諸州為郡主、今則供役兮、

凡過之者、向爾鼓掌兮、嗤笑耶路撒冷女、而搖首兮、咸曰人所稱為完美、全地所喜悅者、即此邑乎、

爾豈得謂殺爾者曰、我為上帝乎、爾在戕爾者之手、則為人、非上帝矣、

列邦商賈、咸為嗤笑、爾歸滅沒、永不復振、

過者誚之、搖首曰、

彼昔自榮與奢華若何、使之痛苦悲哀亦若何、蓋彼自謂我位后矣、非嫠也、決不至悲哀也、故一日間、諸災並臻、即死亡悲哀饑荒、盡焚以火、蓋鞫之之主上帝、乃有能者也、世上諸王、素與行淫而奢華者、見所焚之煙、則為之哭而擗、因其痛苦而懼、則遠立曰、禍哉、禍哉、大巴比倫鞏固之邑乎、半時間爾之鞫至矣、世上諸商、亦為之哭而哀、因不復見有人購其貨也、斯貨也、若金銀、寶石、珠璣、枲布、紫料、絲帛、絳料、香松諸木、象牙諸器、及佳木銅鐵白石諸器、亦有肉桂、荳蔻、香料、香膏、乳香、酒、油、麵、麥、牛、羊、馬、車、及人之身與靈也、爾心所嗜之果已去、爾之珍饈華采皆亡、不復見之、諸商因之致富者、以其痛苦、懼而遠立、哀哭之、曰、禍哉、禍哉、大邑乎、素衣枲布紫絳、飾以金珠寶石者乎、蓋半時間、如此之巨富、成為荒墟也、各舟長與航海者及舟子、並凡恃海為業者、見所焚之煙、皆遠立、呼曰、孰若此大邑乎、又以塵蒙首哭而哀、呼曰、禍哉、禍哉、大邑乎、凡有舟於海者、自其豐厚而致富、半時間成為荒墟矣、

主奚忿怒、以雲蔽郇女兮、以色列之榮華、自天擲地兮、發怒之日、不念其足几兮、

主於錫安山、及耶路撒冷、既畢乃事、必討亞述王心驕之行為、目高之狂傲、彼曰、我之所為、乃以己手之力、己心之智、我固聰慧、曾移列國之界、虜其貨財、猶如強者傾覆居位之人、我得列國之貨財、若取諸巢、我畧全地、若拾遺卵、無有鼓翼、啟口鳴噪者也、○

爾安逸之婦歟、起聽我聲、爾無慮之女歟、傾聽我言、

我必於所賜之地、拒絕以色列族、棄此為我名區別為聖之室、而不之顧、使以色列族、於列國之中、作諺語、為話柄、此室雖高、凡過之者、必駭異而嗤笑曰、耶和華曷如是待此地此室乎、

主耶和華云、埃及王法老乎、我為爾敵、爾乃巨鱷、臥於河中、自謂河為我有、我為己造之、

人向之鼓掌、叱之離所、

爾將對巴比倫王作歌曰、殘虐者奚絕乎、強暴者奚息乎、耶和華折惡人之梃、斷霸者之杖、

義人見之而懼、且將哂之、曰、試觀斯人、不以上帝為力、惟恃多財、以惡自固兮、
