Luke 23:19 - Barabbas had been thrown into prison. He had taken part in a struggle in the city against the authorities. He had also committed murder.
Luke 23:20 - Pilate wanted to let Jesus go. So he made an appeal to the crowd again.
Luke 23:21 - But they kept shouting, “Crucify him! Crucify him!”
Luke 23:22 - Pilate spoke to them for the third time. “Why?” he asked. “What wrong has this man done? I have found no reason to have him put to death. So I will just have him whipped and let him go.”
Luke 23:23 - But with loud shouts they kept calling for Jesus to be crucified. The people’s shouts won out.
Luke 23:24 - So Pilate decided to give them what they wanted.

Acts 9:2 - He asked the priest for letters to the synagogues in Damascus. He wanted to find men and women who belonged to the Way of Jesus. The letters would allow him to take them as prisoners to Jerusalem.
John 16:3 - They will do things like that because they do not know the Father or me.
Jeremiah 18:18 - They said, “Come on. Let’s make plans against Jeremiah. We’ll still have priests to teach us the law. We’ll always have wise people to give us advice. We’ll have prophets to bring us messages from the Lord. So come on. Let’s speak out against Jeremiah. We shouldn’t pay any attention to what he says.”
Jeremiah 38:4 - Then these officials said to the king, “This man should be put to death. What he says is making the soldiers who are left in this city lose hope. It’s making all the people lose hope too. He isn’t interested in what is best for the people. In fact, he’s trying to destroy them.”
Psalm 37:32 - Those who are evil hide and wait for godly people. They want to kill them.
Psalm 37:33 - But the Lord will not leave the godly in their power. He will not let them be found guilty when they are brought into court.
Psalm 64:2 - Hide me from evil people who talk about how to harm me. Hide me from those people who are planning to do evil.
Psalm 64:3 - They make their tongues like sharp swords. They aim their mean words like deadly arrows.
Psalm 64:4 - They shoot from their hiding places at people who aren’t guilty. They shoot quickly and aren’t afraid of being caught.
Psalm 64:5 - They help one another make evil plans. They talk about hiding their traps. They say, “Who can see what we are doing?”
Psalm 64:6 - They make plans to do what is evil. They say, “We have thought up a perfect plan!” The hearts and minds of people are so clever!
Acts 26:9 - “I believed that I should oppose the name of Jesus of Nazareth. So I did everything I could to oppose his name.
Acts 26:10 - That’s just what I was doing in Jerusalem. On the authority of the chief priests, I put many of the Lord’s people in prison. I agreed that they should die.
Acts 26:11 - I often went from one synagogue to another to have them punished. I tried to force them to speak evil things against Jesus. All I wanted to do was hurt them. I even went looking for them in the cities of other lands.
Acts 9:24 - But he learned about their plan. Day and night they watched the city gates closely in order to kill him.
