  • Micah 2:6 - “Don’t say such things,” the people respond. “Don’t prophesy like that. Such disasters will never come our way!”
  • Micah 2:7 - Should you talk that way, O family of Israel? Will the Lord’s Spirit have patience with such behavior? If you would do what is right, you would find my words comforting.
  • 1 Thessalonians 2:15 - For some of the Jews killed the prophets, and some even killed the Lord Jesus. Now they have persecuted us, too. They fail to please God and work against all humanity
  • 1 Thessalonians 2:16 - as they try to keep us from preaching the Good News of salvation to the Gentiles. By doing this, they continue to pile up their sins. But the anger of God has caught up with them at last.
  • Matthew 27:64 - So we request that you seal the tomb until the third day. This will prevent his disciples from coming and stealing his body and then telling everyone he was raised from the dead! If that happens, we’ll be worse off than we were at first.”
  • 2 Chronicles 25:15 - This made the Lord very angry, and he sent a prophet to ask, “Why do you turn to gods who could not even save their own people from you?”
  • 2 Chronicles 25:16 - But the king interrupted him and said, “Since when have I made you the king’s counselor? Be quiet now before I have you killed!” So the prophet stopped with this warning: “I know that God has determined to destroy you because you have done this and have refused to accept my counsel.”
  • Amos 2:12 - “But you caused the Nazirites to sin by making them drink wine, and you commanded the prophets, ‘Shut up!’
  • Romans 15:18 - Yet I dare not boast about anything except what Christ has done through me, bringing the Gentiles to God by my message and by the way I worked among them.
  • Romans 15:19 - They were convinced by the power of miraculous signs and wonders and by the power of God’s Spirit. In this way, I have fully presented the Good News of Christ from Jerusalem all the way to Illyricum.
  • Romans 15:20 - My ambition has always been to preach the Good News where the name of Christ has never been heard, rather than where a church has already been started by someone else.
  • Romans 15:21 - I have been following the plan spoken of in the Scriptures, where it says, “Those who have never been told about him will see, and those who have never heard of him will understand.”
  • Romans 15:22 - In fact, my visit to you has been delayed so long because I have been preaching in these places.
  • Amos 7:12 - Then Amaziah sent orders to Amos: “Get out of here, you prophet! Go on back to the land of Judah, and earn your living by prophesying there!
  • Amos 7:13 - Don’t bother us with your prophecies here in Bethel. This is the king’s sanctuary and the national place of worship!”
  • Amos 7:14 - But Amos replied, “I’m not a professional prophet, and I was never trained to be one. I’m just a shepherd, and I take care of sycamore-fig trees.
  • Amos 7:15 - But the Lord called me away from my flock and told me, ‘Go and prophesy to my people in Israel.’
  • Amos 7:16 - Now then, listen to this message from the Lord: “You say, ‘Don’t prophesy against Israel. Stop preaching against my people. ’
  • Amos 7:17 - But this is what the Lord says: ‘Your wife will become a prostitute in this city, and your sons and daughters will be killed. Your land will be divided up, and you yourself will die in a foreign land. And the people of Israel will certainly become captives in exile, far from their homeland.’”
  • Psalms 2:1 - Why are the nations so angry? Why do they waste their time with futile plans?
  • Psalms 2:2 - The kings of the earth prepare for battle; the rulers plot together against the Lord and against his anointed one.
  • Psalms 2:3 - “Let us break their chains,” they cry, “and free ourselves from slavery to God.”
  • Psalms 2:4 - But the one who rules in heaven laughs. The Lord scoffs at them.
  • Jeremiah 20:1 - Now Pashhur son of Immer, the priest in charge of the Temple of the Lord, heard what Jeremiah was prophesying.
  • Jeremiah 20:2 - So he arrested Jeremiah the prophet and had him whipped and put in stocks at the Benjamin Gate of the Lord’s Temple.
  • Jeremiah 20:3 - The next day, when Pashhur finally released him, Jeremiah said, “Pashhur, the Lord has changed your name. From now on you are to be called ‘The Man Who Lives in Terror.’
  • Acts of the Apostles 4:29 - And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word.
  • Acts of the Apostles 4:30 - Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
  • 1 Thessalonians 1:8 - And now the word of the Lord is ringing out from you to people everywhere, even beyond Macedonia and Achaia, for wherever we go we find people telling us about your faith in God. We don’t need to tell them about it,
  • Jeremiah 29:25 - “This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: You wrote a letter on your own authority to Zephaniah son of Maaseiah, the priest, and you sent copies to the other priests and people in Jerusalem. You wrote to Zephaniah,
  • Jeremiah 29:26 - “The Lord has appointed you to replace Jehoiada as the priest in charge of the house of the Lord. You are responsible to put into stocks and neck irons any crazy man who claims to be a prophet.
  • Jeremiah 29:27 - So why have you done nothing to stop Jeremiah from Anathoth, who pretends to be a prophet among you?
  • Jeremiah 29:28 - Jeremiah sent a letter here to Babylon, predicting that our captivity will be a long one. He said, ‘Build homes, and plan to stay. Plant gardens, and eat the food they produce.’”
  • Jeremiah 29:29 - But when Zephaniah the priest received Shemaiah’s letter, he took it to Jeremiah and read it to him.
  • Jeremiah 29:30 - Then the Lord gave this message to Jeremiah:
  • Jeremiah 29:31 - “Send an open letter to all the exiles in Babylon. Tell them, ‘This is what the Lord says concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: Since he has prophesied to you when I did not send him and has tricked you into believing his lies,
  • Jeremiah 29:32 - I will punish him and his family. None of his descendants will see the good things I will do for my people, for he has incited you to rebel against me. I, the Lord, have spoken!’”
  • Acts of the Apostles 5:39 - But if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God!”
  • Acts of the Apostles 5:40 - The others accepted his advice. They called in the apostles and had them flogged. Then they ordered them never again to speak in the name of Jesus, and they let them go.
  • Romans 10:16 - But not everyone welcomes the Good News, for Isaiah the prophet said, “Lord, who has believed our message?”
  • Romans 10:17 - So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.
  • Romans 10:18 - But I ask, have the people of Israel actually heard the message? Yes, they have: “The message has gone throughout the earth, and the words to all the world.”
  • Isaiah 30:8 - Now go and write down these words. Write them in a book. They will stand until the end of time as a witness
  • Isaiah 30:9 - that these people are stubborn rebels who refuse to pay attention to the Lord’s instructions.
  • Isaiah 30:10 - They tell the seers, “Stop seeing visions!” They tell the prophets, “Don’t tell us what is right. Tell us nice things. Tell us lies.
  • Isaiah 30:11 - Forget all this gloom. Get off your narrow path. Stop telling us about your ‘Holy One of Israel.’”
  • Daniel 2:34 - As you watched, a rock was cut from a mountain, but not by human hands. It struck the feet of iron and clay, smashing them to bits.
  • Daniel 2:35 - The whole statue was crushed into small pieces of iron, clay, bronze, silver, and gold. Then the wind blew them away without a trace, like chaff on a threshing floor. But the rock that knocked the statue down became a great mountain that covered the whole earth.
  • Acts of the Apostles 5:24 - When the captain of the Temple guard and the leading priests heard this, they were perplexed, wondering where it would all end.
  • Acts of the Apostles 5:28 - “We gave you strict orders never again to teach in this man’s name!” he said. “Instead, you have filled all Jerusalem with your teaching about him, and you want to make us responsible for his death!”
