  • Ecclesiastes 8:9 - While applying my mind to everything that happens in this world, I have seen all this: Sometimes one person dominates other people to their harm.
  • Proverbs 1:19 - Such are the ways of all who gain profit unjustly; it takes away the life of those who obtain it!
  • Proverbs 11:4 - Wealth does not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from mortal danger.
  • Proverbs 11:24 - One person is generous and yet grows more wealthy, but another withholds more than he should and comes to poverty.
  • Proverbs 11:25 - A generous person will be enriched, and the one who provides water for others will himself be satisfied.
  • Luke 16:1 - Jesus also said to the disciples, “There was a rich man who was informed of accusations that his manager was wasting his assets.
  • Luke 16:2 - So he called the manager in and said to him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Turn in the account of your administration, because you can no longer be my manager.’
  • Luke 16:3 - Then the manager said to himself, ‘What should I do, since my master is taking my position away from me? I’m not strong enough to dig, and I’m too ashamed to beg.
  • Luke 16:4 - I know what to do so that when I am put out of management, people will welcome me into their homes.’
  • Luke 16:5 - So he contacted his master’s debtors one by one. He asked the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’
  • Luke 16:6 - The man replied, ‘A hundred measures of olive oil.’ The manager said to him, ‘Take your bill, sit down quickly, and write fifty.’
  • Luke 16:7 - Then he said to another, ‘And how much do you owe?’ The second man replied, ‘A hundred measures of wheat.’ The manager said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’
  • Luke 16:8 - The master commended the dishonest manager because he acted shrewdly. For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their contemporaries than the people of light.
  • Luke 16:9 - And I tell you, make friends for yourselves by how you use worldly wealth, so that when it runs out you will be welcomed into the eternal homes.
  • Luke 16:10 - “The one who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and the one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.
  • Luke 16:11 - If then you haven’t been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will entrust you with the true riches?
  • Luke 16:12 - And if you haven’t been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you your own ?
  • Luke 16:13 - No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”
  • Proverbs 1:11 - If they say, “Come with us! We will lie in wait to shed blood; we will ambush an innocent person capriciously.
  • Proverbs 1:12 - We will swallow them alive like Sheol, those full of vigor like those going down to the Pit.
  • Proverbs 1:13 - We will seize all kinds of precious wealth; we will fill our houses with plunder.
  • Genesis 19:26 - But Lot’s wife looked back longingly and was turned into a pillar of salt.
  • Genesis 13:5 - Now Lot, who was traveling with Abram, also had flocks, herds, and tents.
  • Genesis 13:6 - But the land could not support them while they were living side by side. Because their possessions were so great, they were not able to live alongside one another.

  • Genesis 13:8 - Abram said to Lot, “Let there be no quarreling between me and you, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen, for we are close relatives.
  • Genesis 13:9 - Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself now from me. If you go to the left, then I’ll go to the right, but if you go to the right, then I’ll go to the left.”
  • Genesis 13:10 - Lot looked up and saw the whole region of the Jordan. He noticed that all of it was well-watered (before the Lord obliterated Sodom and Gomorrah) like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, all the way to Zoar.
  • Genesis 13:11 - Lot chose for himself the whole region of the Jordan and traveled toward the east. So the relatives separated from each other.
  • Luke 12:16 - He then told them a parable: “The land of a certain rich man produced an abundant crop,
  • Luke 12:17 - so he thought to himself, ‘What should I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’
  • Luke 12:18 - Then he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
  • Luke 12:19 - And I will say to myself, “You have plenty of goods stored up for many years; relax, eat, drink, celebrate!”’
  • Luke 12:20 - But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded back from you, but who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’
  • Luke 12:21 - So it is with the one who stores up riches for himself, but is not rich toward God.”
  • Luke 16:19 - “There was a rich man who dressed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day.
  • Proverbs 1:32 - For the waywardness of the simpletons will kill them, and the careless ease of fools will destroy them.
  • Genesis 14:16 - He retrieved all the stolen property. He also brought back his nephew Lot and his possessions, as well as the women and the rest of the people.
  • Ecclesiastes 4:8 - A man who is all alone with no companion, he has no children nor siblings; yet there is no end to all his toil, and he is never satisfied with riches. He laments, “For whom am I toiling and depriving myself of pleasure?” This also is futile and a burdensome task!
  • Genesis 19:31 - Later the older daughter said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is no man anywhere nearby to have sexual relations with us, according to the way of all the world.
  • Genesis 19:32 - Come, let’s make our father drunk with wine so we can have sexual relations with him and preserve our family line through our father.”
  • Genesis 19:33 - So that night they made their father drunk with wine, and the older daughter came and had sexual relations with her father. But he was not aware that she had sexual relations with him and then got up.
  • Genesis 19:34 - So in the morning the older daughter said to the younger, “Since I had sexual relations with my father last night, let’s make him drunk again tonight. Then you go and have sexual relations with him so we can preserve our family line through our father.”
  • Genesis 19:35 - So they made their father drunk that night as well, and the younger one came and had sexual relations with him. But he was not aware that she had sexual relations with him and then got up.
  • Genesis 19:36 - In this way both of Lot’s daughters became pregnant by their father.
  • Genesis 19:37 - The older daughter gave birth to a son and named him Moab. He is the ancestor of the Moabites of today.
  • Genesis 19:38 - The younger daughter also gave birth to a son and named him Ben-Ammi. He is the ancestor of the Ammonites of today.
  • Genesis 19:14 - Then Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law who were going to marry his daughters. He said, “Quick, get out of this place because the Lord is about to destroy the city!” But his sons-in-law thought he was ridiculing them.
  • Luke 16:22 - “Now the poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.
  • Luke 16:23 - And in hell, as he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far off with Lazarus at his side.
  • Luke 18:22 - When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
  • Luke 18:23 - But when the man heard this he became very sad, for he was extremely wealthy.
  • Ecclesiastes 6:1 - Here is another misfortune that I have seen on earth, and it weighs heavily on people:
  • Ecclesiastes 6:2 - God gives a man riches, property, and wealth so that he lacks nothing that his heart desires, yet God does not enable him to enjoy the fruit of his labor – instead, someone else enjoys it! This is fruitless and a grave misfortune.
