Matthew 18:22 - Jesus answered him, “I say to you, not up to seven times, but seventy times seven.
Matthew 18:23 - “Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wished to settle accounts with his slaves.
Matthew 18:24 - When he began the accounting, one who owed him 10,000 talents was brought to him.
Matthew 18:25 - But because he could not repay, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and his children and everything that he possessed, and payment to be made.
Matthew 18:26 - So the slave fell on his knees and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me and I will repay you everything.’
Matthew 18:27 - And his master’s heart was moved with compassion and he released him and forgave him [canceling] the debt.
Matthew 18:28 - But that same slave went out and found one of his fellow slaves who owed him a hundred denarii; and he seized him and began choking him, saying, ‘Pay what you owe!’
Matthew 18:29 - So his fellow slave fell on his knees and begged him earnestly, ‘Have patience with me and I will repay you.’
Matthew 18:30 - But he was unwilling and he went and had him thrown in prison until he paid back the debt.
Matthew 18:31 - When his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were deeply grieved and they went and reported to their master [with clarity and in detail] everything that had taken place.
Matthew 18:32 - Then his master called him and said to him, ‘You wicked and contemptible slave, I forgave all that [great] debt of yours because you begged me.
Matthew 18:33 - Should you not have had mercy on your fellow slave [who owed you little by comparison], as I had mercy on you?’
Matthew 18:34 - And in wrath his master turned him over to the torturers (jailers) until he paid all that he owed.
Matthew 18:35 - My heavenly Father will also do the same to [every one of] you, if each of you does not forgive his brother from your heart.”
1 John 2:12 - I am writing to you, little children (believers, dear ones), because your sins have been forgiven for His name’s sake [you have been pardoned and released from spiritual debt through His name because you have confessed His name, believing in Him as Savior].
Romans 12:10 - Be devoted to one another with [authentic] brotherly affection [as members of one family], give preference to one another in honor;
Matthew 6:12 - And forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven our debtors [letting go of both the wrong and the resentment].
1 Corinthians 13:4 - Love endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful, and is not jealous or envious; love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant.
Luke 17:4 - Even if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times and says, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him [that is, give up resentment and consider the offense recalled and annulled].”
Luke 6:37 - “ Do not judge [others self-righteously], and you will not be judged; do not condemn [others when you are guilty and unrepentant], and you will not be condemned [for your hypocrisy]; pardon [others when they truly repent and change], and you will be pardoned [when you truly repent and change].
Luke 6:35 - But love [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for] your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; for your reward will be great (rich, abundant), and you will be sons of the Most High; because He Himself is kind and gracious and good to the ungrateful and the wicked.
2 Corinthians 2:10 - If you forgive anyone anything, I too forgive [that one]; and what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sake in the presence of [and with the approval of] Christ,
Mark 11:25 - Whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him [drop the issue, let it go], so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions and wrongdoings [against Him and others].
Ephesians 5:1 - Therefore become imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father];
1 Peter 3:8 - Finally, all of you be like-minded [united in spirit], sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted [courteous and compassionate toward each other as members of one household], and humble in spirit;
1 Peter 3:9 - and never return evil for evil or insult for insult [avoid scolding, berating, and any kind of abuse], but on the contrary, give a blessing [pray for one another’s well-being, contentment, and protection]; for you have been called for this very purpose, that you might inherit a blessing [from God that brings well-being, happiness, and protection].
Matthew 6:14 - For if you forgive others their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins], your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
Matthew 6:15 - But if you do not forgive others [nurturing your hurt and anger with the result that it interferes with your relationship with God], then your Father will not forgive your trespasses.
Colossians 3:12 - So, as God’s own chosen people, who are holy [set apart, sanctified for His purpose] and well-beloved [by God Himself], put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience [which has the power to endure whatever injustice or unpleasantness comes, with good temper];
Colossians 3:13 - bearing graciously with one another, and willingly forgiving each other if one has a cause for complaint against another; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so should you forgive.
