  • Isaiah 36:7 - “But perhaps you will say to me, ‘We are trusting in the Lord our God!’ But isn’t he the one who was insulted by Hezekiah? Didn’t Hezekiah tear down his shrines and altars and make everyone in Judah and Jerusalem worship only at the altar here in Jerusalem?
  • Isaiah 37:12 - Have the gods of other nations rescued them—such nations as Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the people of Eden who were in Tel-assar? My predecessors destroyed them all!
  • Isaiah 37:13 - What happened to the king of Hamath and the king of Arpad? What happened to the kings of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah?”
  • 2 Kings 19:17 - “It is true, Lord, that the kings of Assyria have destroyed all these nations.
  • 2 Kings 19:18 - And they have thrown the gods of these nations into the fire and burned them. But of course the Assyrians could destroy them! They were not gods at all—only idols of wood and stone shaped by human hands.
  • Psalms 135:15 - The idols of the nations are merely things of silver and gold, shaped by human hands.
  • Psalms 135:16 - They have mouths but cannot speak, and eyes but cannot see.
  • Psalms 135:17 - They have ears but cannot hear, and mouths but cannot breathe.
  • Psalms 135:18 - And those who make idols are just like them, as are all who trust in them.
  • Daniel 3:15 - I will give you one more chance to bow down and worship the statue I have made when you hear the sound of the musical instruments. But if you refuse, you will be thrown immediately into the blazing furnace. And then what god will be able to rescue you from my power?”

  • 2 Chronicles 32:13 - “Surely you must realize what I and the other kings of Assyria before me have done to all the people of the earth! Were any of the gods of those nations able to rescue their people from my power?
  • 2 Chronicles 32:14 - Which of their gods was able to rescue its people from the destructive power of my predecessors? What makes you think your God can rescue you from me?
  • 2 Chronicles 32:15 - Don’t let Hezekiah deceive you! Don’t let him fool you like this! I say it again—no god of any nation or kingdom has ever yet been able to rescue his people from me or my ancestors. How much less will your God rescue you from my power!”
  • 2 Chronicles 32:16 - And Sennacherib’s officers further mocked the Lord God and his servant Hezekiah, heaping insult upon insult.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:17 - The king also sent letters scorning the Lord, the God of Israel. He wrote, “Just as the gods of all the other nations failed to rescue their people from my power, so the God of Hezekiah will also fail.”
  • Isaiah 37:17 - Bend down, O Lord, and listen! Open your eyes, O Lord, and see! Listen to Sennacherib’s words of defiance against the living God.
  • Isaiah 37:18 - “It is true, Lord, that the kings of Assyria have destroyed all these nations.
  • Isaiah 37:10 - “This message is for King Hezekiah of Judah. Don’t let your God, in whom you trust, deceive you with promises that Jerusalem will not be captured by the king of Assyria.
  • Psalms 12:4 - They say, “We will lie to our hearts’ content. Our lips are our own—who can stop us?”
  • Psalms 115:2 - Why let the nations say, “Where is their God?”
  • Psalms 115:3 - Our God is in the heavens, and he does as he wishes.

  • Jeremiah 10:10 - But the Lord is the only true God. He is the living God and the everlasting King! The whole earth trembles at his anger. The nations cannot stand up to his wrath.
  • Jeremiah 10:11 - Say this to those who worship other gods: “Your so-called gods, who did not make the heavens and earth, will vanish from the earth and from under the heavens.”
  • Jeremiah 10:12 - But the Lord made the earth by his power, and he preserves it by his wisdom. With his own understanding he stretched out the heavens.
  • Psalms 135:5 - I know the greatness of the Lord— that our Lord is greater than any other god.
  • Psalms 135:6 - The Lord does whatever pleases him throughout all heaven and earth, and on the seas and in their depths.
  • Isaiah 36:10 - What’s more, do you think we have invaded your land without the Lord’s direction? The Lord himself told us, ‘Attack this land and destroy it!’”
  • Jeremiah 10:3 - Their ways are futile and foolish. They cut down a tree, and a craftsman carves an idol.
  • Jeremiah 10:4 - They decorate it with gold and silver and then fasten it securely with hammer and nails so it won’t fall over.
  • Jeremiah 10:5 - Their gods are like helpless scarecrows in a cucumber field! They cannot speak, and they need to be carried because they cannot walk. Do not be afraid of such gods, for they can neither harm you nor do you any good.”
  • 2 Kings 18:33 - Have the gods of any other nations ever saved their people from the king of Assyria?
  • 2 Kings 18:34 - What happened to the gods of Hamath and Arpad? And what about the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah? Did any god rescue Samaria from my power?
  • 2 Kings 18:35 - What god of any nation has ever been able to save its people from my power? So what makes you think that the Lord can rescue Jerusalem from me?”
  • Psalms 92:5 - O Lord, what great works you do! And how deep are your thoughts.
  • Psalms 92:6 - Only a simpleton would not know, and only a fool would not understand this:
  • Psalms 92:7 - Though the wicked sprout like weeds and evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever.
  • Isaiah 36:15 - Don’t let him fool you into trusting in the Lord by saying, ‘The Lord will surely rescue us. This city will never fall into the hands of the Assyrian king!’
