Lamentations 1:2 - Bitterly she weeps at night, tears are on her cheeks. Among all her lovers there is no one to comfort her. All her friends have betrayed her; they have become her enemies.
Lamentations 1:3 - After affliction and harsh labor, Judah has gone into exile. She dwells among the nations; she finds no resting place. All who pursue her have overtaken her in the midst of her distress.
Lamentations 1:4 - The roads to Zion mourn, for no one comes to her appointed festivals. All her gateways are desolate, her priests groan, her young women grieve, and she is in bitter anguish.
Lamentations 1:5 - Her foes have become her masters; her enemies are at ease. The Lord has brought her grief because of her many sins. Her children have gone into exile, captive before the foe.
Lamentations 1:6 - All the splendor has departed from Daughter Zion. Her princes are like deer that find no pasture; in weakness they have fled before the pursuer.
Lamentations 1:7 - In the days of her affliction and wandering Jerusalem remembers all the treasures that were hers in days of old. When her people fell into enemy hands, there was no one to help her. Her enemies looked at her and laughed at her destruction.
Lamentations 1:8 - Jerusalem has sinned greatly and so has become unclean. All who honored her despise her, for they have all seen her naked; she herself groans and turns away.
Lamentations 1:9 - Her filthiness clung to her skirts; she did not consider her future. Her fall was astounding; there was none to comfort her. “Look, Lord, on my affliction, for the enemy has triumphed.”
Genesis 11:7 - Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”
Lamentations 4:12 - The kings of the earth did not believe, nor did any of the peoples of the world, that enemies and foes could enter the gates of Jerusalem.
Isaiah 27:10 - The fortified city stands desolate, an abandoned settlement, forsaken like the wilderness; there the calves graze, there they lie down; they strip its branches bare.
Isaiah 27:11 - When its twigs are dry, they are broken off and women come and make fires with them. For this is a people without understanding; so their Maker has no compassion on them, and their Creator shows them no favor.
Isaiah 25:10 - The hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain; but Moab will be trampled in their land as straw is trampled down in the manure.
Psalm 74:1 - O God, why have you rejected us forever? Why does your anger smolder against the sheep of your pasture?
Psalm 74:2 - Remember the nation you purchased long ago, the people of your inheritance, whom you redeemed— Mount Zion, where you dwelt.
Psalm 74:3 - Turn your steps toward these everlasting ruins, all this destruction the enemy has brought on the sanctuary.
Psalm 74:4 - Your foes roared in the place where you met with us; they set up their standards as signs.
Psalm 74:5 - They behaved like men wielding axes to cut through a thicket of trees.
Psalm 74:6 - They smashed all the carved paneling with their axes and hatchets.
Psalm 74:7 - They burned your sanctuary to the ground; they defiled the dwelling place of your Name.
Psalm 74:8 - They said in their hearts, “We will crush them completely!” They burned every place where God was worshiped in the land.
Psalm 74:9 - We are given no signs from God; no prophets are left, and none of us knows how long this will be.
Psalm 74:10 - How long will the enemy mock you, God? Will the foe revile your name forever?
Daniel 8:13 - Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to him, “How long will it take for the vision to be fulfilled—the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that causes desolation, the surrender of the sanctuary and the trampling underfoot of the Lord’s people?”
Nehemiah 2:3 - but I said to the king, “May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”
2 Chronicles 36:4 - The king of Egypt made Eliakim, a brother of Jehoahaz, king over Judah and Jerusalem and changed Eliakim’s name to Jehoiakim. But Necho took Eliakim’s brother Jehoahaz and carried him off to Egypt.
2 Chronicles 36:5 - Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord his God.
2 Chronicles 36:6 - Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon attacked him and bound him with bronze shackles to take him to Babylon.
2 Chronicles 36:7 - Nebuchadnezzar also took to Babylon articles from the temple of the Lord and put them in his temple there.
2 Chronicles 36:8 - The other events of Jehoiakim’s reign, the detestable things he did and all that was found against him, are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. And Jehoiachin his son succeeded him as king.
2 Chronicles 36:9 - Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months and ten days. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord.
2 Chronicles 36:10 - In the spring, King Nebuchadnezzar sent for him and brought him to Babylon, together with articles of value from the temple of the Lord, and he made Jehoiachin’s uncle, Zedekiah, king over Judah and Jerusalem.
Genesis 11:4 - Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”
Psalm 80:12 - Why have you broken down its walls so that all who pass by pick its grapes?
Psalm 80:13 - Boars from the forest ravage it, and insects from the fields feed on it.
Psalm 80:14 - Return to us, God Almighty! Look down from heaven and see! Watch over this vine,
Psalm 80:15 - the root your right hand has planted, the son you have raised up for yourself.
Psalm 80:16 - Your vine is cut down, it is burned with fire; at your rebuke your people perish.
Leviticus 26:31 - I will turn your cities into ruins and lay waste your sanctuaries, and I will take no delight in the pleasing aroma of your offerings.
Leviticus 26:32 - I myself will lay waste the land, so that your enemies who live there will be appalled.
Leviticus 26:33 - I will scatter you among the nations and will draw out my sword and pursue you. Your land will be laid waste, and your cities will lie in ruins.
Leviticus 26:34 - Then the land will enjoy its sabbath years all the time that it lies desolate and you are in the country of your enemies; then the land will rest and enjoy its sabbaths.
Leviticus 26:35 - All the time that it lies desolate, the land will have the rest it did not have during the sabbaths you lived in it.
Revelation 11:2 - But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city for 42 months.
Deuteronomy 28:49 - The Lord will bring a nation against you from far away, from the ends of the earth, like an eagle swooping down, a nation whose language you will not understand,
Deuteronomy 28:50 - a fierce-looking nation without respect for the old or pity for the young.
Deuteronomy 28:51 - They will devour the young of your livestock and the crops of your land until you are destroyed. They will leave you no grain, new wine or olive oil, nor any calves of your herds or lambs of your flocks until you are ruined.
Deuteronomy 28:52 - They will lay siege to all the cities throughout your land until the high fortified walls in which you trust fall down. They will besiege all the cities throughout the land the Lord your God is giving you.
Isaiah 28:3 - That wreath, the pride of Ephraim’s drunkards, will be trampled underfoot.
Isaiah 10:6 - I send him against a godless nation, I dispatch him against a people who anger me, to seize loot and snatch plunder, and to trample them down like mud in the streets.
Isaiah 28:18 - Your covenant with death will be annulled; your agreement with the realm of the dead will not stand. When the overwhelming scourge sweeps by, you will be beaten down by it.
Lamentations 1:15 - “The Lord has rejected all the warriors in my midst; he has summoned an army against me to crush my young men. In his winepress the Lord has trampled Virgin Daughter Judah.
Luke 21:24 - They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
