Acts 26:23 - that the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed) was to suffer, and that He by being the first to rise from the dead [with an incorruptible body] would proclaim light (salvation) both to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles.”
Isaiah 42:6 - “I am the Lord, I have called You (the Messiah) in righteousness [for a righteous purpose], I will also take You by the hand and keep watch over You, And I will appoint You as a covenant to the people [Israel], As a light to the nations (Gentiles),
Isaiah 42:7 - To open the eyes of the blind, To bring out prisoners from the dungeon And those who sit in darkness from the prison.
Matthew 4:14 - This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah:
Matthew 4:15 - “The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee [in the district] of the Gentiles—
Matthew 4:16 - The people who were sitting (living) in [spiritual] darkness have seen a great Light, And for those who were sitting (living) in the land and shadow of [spiritual and moral] death, Upon them a Light has dawned.”
Malachi 4:2 - But for you who fear My name [with awe-filled reverence] the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go forward and leap [joyfully] like calves [released] from the stall.
Isaiah 50:10 - Who is among you who fears the Lord, Who obeys the voice of His Servant, Yet who walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust and be confident in the name of the Lord and let him rely on his God.
Isaiah 49:6 - He says, “It is too trivial a thing that You should be My Servant To raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the survivors of Israel; I will also make You a light to the nations That My salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”
Isaiah 60:1 - “Arise [from spiritual depression to a new life], shine [be radiant with the glory and brilliance of the Lord]; for your light has come, And the glory and brilliance of the Lord has risen upon you.
Isaiah 60:2 - For in fact, darkness will cover the earth And deep darkness will cover the peoples; But the Lord will rise upon you [Jerusalem] And His glory and brilliance will be seen on you.
Isaiah 60:3 - Nations will come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.
Isaiah 9:2 - The people who walk in [spiritual] darkness Will see a great Light; Those who live in the dark land, The Light will shine on them.
John 3:19 - This is the judgment [that is, the cause for indictment, the test by which people are judged, the basis for the sentence]: the Light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.
Psalms 18:28 - For You cause my lamp to be lighted and to shine; The Lord my God illumines my darkness.
Luke 1:78 - Because of the tender mercy of our God, With which the Sunrise (the Messiah) from on high will dawn and visit us,
Luke 1:79 - To shine upon those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, To guide our feet [in a straight line] into the way of peace and serenity.”
John 1:4 - In Him was life [and the power to bestow life], and the life was the Light of men.
John 1:5 - The Light shines on in the darkness, and the darkness did not understand it or overpower it or appropriate it or absorb it [and is unreceptive to it].
John 1:6 - There came a man commissioned and sent from God, whose name was John.
John 1:7 - This man came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe [in Christ, the Light] through him.
John 1:8 - John was not the Light, but came to testify about the Light.
John 1:9 - There it was—the true Light [the genuine, perfect, steadfast Light] which, coming into the world, enlightens everyone.
2 Peter 2:4 - For if God did not [even] spare angels that sinned, but threw them into hell and sent them to pits of gloom to be kept [there] for judgment;
Job 33:28 - God has redeemed my life from going to the pit [of destruction], And my life shall see the light.’ ”
Matthew 5:14 - “You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;
John 12:35 - So Jesus said to them, “The Light is among you [only] a little while longer. Walk while you have the Light [keep on living by it], so that darkness will not overtake you. He who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going [he is drifting aimlessly].
John 9:5 - As long as I am in the world, I am the Light of the world [giving guidance through My word and works].”
John 12:46 - I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes and trusts in Me [as Savior—all those who anchor their hope in Me and rely on the truth of My message] will not continue to live in darkness.
