  • Numbers 23:13 - Balak said to him, “Come with me, I implore you, to another place from where you can see them, although you will see only the nearest and not all of them; and curse them for me from there.”
  • Numbers 23:14 - So he took Balaam to the field of Zophim to the top of [Mount] Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered a bull and a ram on each altar.
  • Numbers 23:15 - Balaam said to Balak, “Stand here beside your burnt offering while I go to meet the Lord over there.”
  • Numbers 23:16 - Then the Lord met Balaam and put a speech in his mouth, and said, “Go back to Balak and you shall speak thus.”
  • Numbers 23:17 - When Balaam returned to Balak, he was standing beside his burnt offering, and the leaders of Moab were with him. And Balak said to him, “What has the Lord spoken?”

  • Numbers 23:19 - God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken and will He not make it good and fulfill it?
  • Numbers 23:20 - Behold, I have received His command to bless [Israel]. He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.
  • Numbers 23:21 - God has not observed wickedness in Jacob [for he is forgiven], Nor has He seen trouble in Israel. The Lord their God is with Israel, And the shout of their King is among the people.
  • Numbers 23:22 - God brought them out of Egypt; They have the strength of a wild ox.
  • Numbers 23:23 - For there is no enchantment or omen against Jacob, Nor is there any divination against Israel. At the proper time it shall be said to Jacob And to Israel, what has God done!
  • Numbers 24:1 - When Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel, he did not go as he had done each time before [superstitiously] to seek omens and signs [in the natural world], but he set his face toward the wilderness (desert).
  • Numbers 24:2 - And Balaam raised his eyes and he saw Israel living in their tents tribe by tribe; and the Spirit of God came on him.
  • Numbers 24:3 - He took up his [third] discourse (oracle) and said: “The oracle of Balaam the son of Beor, And the oracle of the man whose eye is opened [at last, to see clearly the purpose and will of God],
  • Numbers 24:4 - The oracle of one who hears the words of God, Who sees the vision of the Almighty, Falling down, but having his eyes open and uncovered,
  • Numbers 24:5 - How fair are your tents, O Jacob, And your tabernacles, O Israel!
  • Numbers 24:6 - Like valleys that stretch out, Like gardens beside the river, Like aloes planted by the Lord, Like cedars beside the waters.
  • Numbers 24:7 - Water [that is, great blessings] will flow from his buckets, And his offspring will live by many waters, And his king will be higher than Agag, And his kingdom shall be exalted.
  • Numbers 24:8 - God brought Israel out of Egypt; Israel has strength like the wild ox; He will devour [Gentile] nations, his adversaries (enemies), And will crush their bones in pieces, And shatter them with his arrows.
  • Numbers 24:9 - He bowed down [to rest], he lies down as a lion; And as a lioness, who dares to rouse him? Blessed [of God] is he who blesses you, And cursed [of God] is he who curses you.”
  • Numbers 24:10 - Then Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he struck his hands together; and Balak said to Balaam, “I called you to curse my enemies, but behold, you have done nothing but bless them these three times.
  • Numbers 24:11 - Therefore now flee to your place! I had intended to honor you greatly, but behold, the Lord has held you back from honor.”
  • Numbers 24:12 - Balaam said to Balak, “Did I not tell your messengers whom you had sent to me,
  • Numbers 24:13 - ‘Even if Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the command of the Lord, to do either good or bad of my own accord. What the Lord speaks, that I will speak?’
  • Numbers 24:14 - And now, look, I am going to my people; come, I will advise you as to what this people [Israel] will do to your people [Moab] in the days to come.”

  • Numbers 24:18 - Edom shall be [taken as] a possession, [Mount] Seir, Israel’s enemies, also will be a possession, While Israel performs valiantly.
  • Numbers 24:19 - One from [the descendants of] Jacob shall have dominion And will destroy the remnant from the city.”
  • Numbers 24:20 - Balaam looked at Amalek and took up his [fifth] discourse (oracle) and said: “Amalek was the first of the [neighboring] nations [to oppose the Israelites after they left Egypt], But his end shall be destruction.”
  • Numbers 24:21 - And Balaam looked at the Kenites and took up his [sixth] discourse (oracle) and said: “Strong is your dwelling place, And you set your nest in the cliff.
  • Numbers 24:22 - Nevertheless the Kenites will be consumed. How long will Asshur (Assyria) keep you (Israel) captive?”
  • Numbers 24:23 - Then he took up his [seventh] discourse (oracle) and said: “Alas, who can live unless God has ordained it?
  • Numbers 24:24 - But ships shall come from the coast of Kittim, And shall afflict Asshur (Assyria) and Eber; So they (the victors) also will come to destruction.”
  • Numbers 24:25 - Then Balaam arose and departed and returned to his place, and Balak also went on his way.
  • Numbers 15:5 - and you shall prepare wine for the drink offering, a fourth of a hin, with the burnt offering or for the sacrifice, for each lamb.

  • Numbers 15:14 - If a stranger lives as a resident alien with you, or whoever may be among you throughout your generations, and he wishes to make an offering by fire, as a sweet and soothing aroma to the Lord, just as you do, so shall he do.
  • Numbers 15:15 - As for the assembly, there shall be one [and the same] statute for you [of the congregation] and for the stranger who is a resident alien with you, a permanent statute throughout your generations; as you are, so shall the stranger be before the Lord.
  • Numbers 15:16 - There is to be one law and one ordinance for you and for the stranger who lives with you as a resident alien.’ ”

  • Numbers 15:19 - then, when you eat the food of the land, you shall lift up an offering (heave offering) to the Lord.
  • Numbers 15:20 - You shall lift up a cake made of the first of your [ground grain which has been made into] dough as an offering [to the Lord]; as an offering from the threshing floor, so shall you lift it up.
  • Numbers 15:21 - From the first of your dough (ground grain) you shall give to the Lord an offering throughout your generations.
  • Numbers 15:22 - ‘But when you unintentionally fail and do not observe all these commandments, which the Lord has spoken to Moses,

  • Numbers 24:15 - He took up his [fourth] discourse (oracle) and said: “The oracle of Balaam the son of Beor, The oracle of the man whose eye is opened,
  • Numbers 24:16 - The oracle of him who hears the words of God And knows the knowledge of the Most High, Who sees the vision of the Almighty, Falling down, but having his eyes open and uncovered:
  • Numbers 24:17 - I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near. A star shall come forth from [the descendants of] Jacob, A scepter shall rise out of [the descendants of] Israel And shall crush the forehead of Moab And destroy all the sons of Sheth.
  • Numbers 24:18 - Edom shall be [taken as] a possession, [Mount] Seir, Israel’s enemies, also will be a possession, While Israel performs valiantly.
  • Numbers 24:19 - One from [the descendants of] Jacob shall have dominion And will destroy the remnant from the city.”
  • Numbers 24:20 - Balaam looked at Amalek and took up his [fifth] discourse (oracle) and said: “Amalek was the first of the [neighboring] nations [to oppose the Israelites after they left Egypt], But his end shall be destruction.”
  • Numbers 24:21 - And Balaam looked at the Kenites and took up his [sixth] discourse (oracle) and said: “Strong is your dwelling place, And you set your nest in the cliff.
  • Numbers 24:22 - Nevertheless the Kenites will be consumed. How long will Asshur (Assyria) keep you (Israel) captive?”
  • Numbers 24:23 - Then he took up his [seventh] discourse (oracle) and said: “Alas, who can live unless God has ordained it?
  • Numbers 24:24 - But ships shall come from the coast of Kittim, And shall afflict Asshur (Assyria) and Eber; So they (the victors) also will come to destruction.”
  • Numbers 24:25 - Then Balaam arose and departed and returned to his place, and Balak also went on his way.
  • Numbers 15:5 - and you shall prepare wine for the drink offering, a fourth of a hin, with the burnt offering or for the sacrifice, for each lamb.
  • Numbers 15:6 - Or for a ram you shall prepare as a grain offering two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with a third of a hin of oil.
  • Numbers 15:7 - And for the drink offering you shall offer a third of a hin of wine, as a sweet and soothing aroma to the Lord.
  • Numbers 15:8 - When you prepare a bull as a burnt offering or as a sacrifice, in fulfilling a special vow or peace offering to the Lord,
  • Numbers 15:9 - then you shall offer with the bull a grain offering of three-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with half a hin of oil;
  • Numbers 15:10 - and you shall bring as the drink offering one-half a hin of wine as an offering by fire, as a sweet and soothing aroma to the Lord.
  • Numbers 15:11 - ‘Thus shall it be done for each bull, or for each ram, or for each of the male lambs, or of the goats.
  • Numbers 15:12 - According to the number that you prepare, so shall you do to everyone according to their number.
  • Numbers 15:13 - All who are native-born shall do these things in this way, in presenting an offering by fire, as a sweet and soothing aroma to the Lord.
  • Numbers 15:14 - If a stranger lives as a resident alien with you, or whoever may be among you throughout your generations, and he wishes to make an offering by fire, as a sweet and soothing aroma to the Lord, just as you do, so shall he do.
  • Numbers 15:15 - As for the assembly, there shall be one [and the same] statute for you [of the congregation] and for the stranger who is a resident alien with you, a permanent statute throughout your generations; as you are, so shall the stranger be before the Lord.
  • Numbers 15:16 - There is to be one law and one ordinance for you and for the stranger who lives with you as a resident alien.’ ”
  • Numbers 15:17 - Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
  • Numbers 15:18 - “Speak to the Israelites and say to them, ‘When you enter the land to which I am bringing you,
  • Numbers 15:19 - then, when you eat the food of the land, you shall lift up an offering (heave offering) to the Lord.
  • Numbers 15:20 - You shall lift up a cake made of the first of your [ground grain which has been made into] dough as an offering [to the Lord]; as an offering from the threshing floor, so shall you lift it up.
  • Numbers 15:21 - From the first of your dough (ground grain) you shall give to the Lord an offering throughout your generations.
  • Numbers 15:22 - ‘But when you unintentionally fail and do not observe all these commandments, which the Lord has spoken to Moses,
  • Numbers 15:23 - even all that the Lord has commanded you through Moses, from the day that the Lord gave commandments and onward throughout your generations,
  • 1 Chronicles 6:16 - The sons of Levi: Gershom, Kohath, and Merari.
  • 1 Chronicles 6:17 - These are the names of the sons of Gershom: Libni and Shimei.
  • 1 Chronicles 6:18 - The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
  • 1 Chronicles 6:19 - The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to their fathers.
  • Joshua 21:1 - Then the heads of the households of the Levites came to Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the households of the tribes of the sons of Israel.
  • Joshua 21:2 - They spoke to them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, “The Lord commanded Moses to give us cities to live in, with their pasture lands for our cattle.”
  • Joshua 21:3 - So the sons of Israel gave the Levites from their inheritance these [forty-eight] cities and their pasture lands, in accordance with the command of the Lord.
  • Joshua 21:4 - The [first] lot (allotment) came out for the families of the Kohathites. So those Levites who were sons (descendants) of Aaron the priest received thirteen cities by lot from the tribe of Judah and from the tribe of Simeon and from the tribe of Benjamin.
  • Joshua 21:5 - The rest of the sons of Kohath received ten cities by lot from the families of the tribe of Ephraim and from the tribe of Dan and from the half-tribe of Manasseh.
  • Joshua 21:6 - The sons of Gershon received thirteen cities by lot from the families of the tribe of Issachar and from the tribe of Asher and from the tribe of Naphtali and from the half-tribe of Manasseh in Bashan.
  • Joshua 21:7 - The sons of Merari according to their families received twelve cities from the tribe of Reuben and from the tribe of Gad and from the tribe of Zebulun.
  • Joshua 21:8 - The sons of Israel gave by lot to the Levites these cities with their pasture lands, as the Lord had commanded through Moses.
  • Joshua 21:9 - They gave these cities which are mentioned here by name from the tribe of the sons of Judah and from the tribe of the sons of Simeon;
  • Joshua 21:10 - and they were for the sons of Aaron, one of the families of the Kohathites, of the sons of Levi, because the lot fell to them first.
  • Joshua 21:11 - They gave them [the city of] Kiriath-arba, Arba being the father of Anak (that is, Hebron) in the hill country of Judah, with its surrounding pasture lands.
  • Joshua 21:12 - But the fields of the city and its villages they had given to Caleb the son of Jephunneh as his property.
  • Joshua 21:13 - So to the sons of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron, the city of refuge for anyone who committed manslaughter, with its pasture lands, and Libnah with its pasture lands,
  • Joshua 21:14 - and Jattir with its pasture lands and Eshtemoa with its pasture lands,
  • Joshua 21:15 - and Holon with its pasture lands and Debir with its pasture lands,
  • Joshua 21:16 - and Ain with its pasture lands and Juttah with its pasture lands and Beth-shemesh with its pasture lands; nine cities from these two tribes (Judah and Simeon).
  • Joshua 21:17 - From the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with its pasture lands, and Geba with its pasture lands,
  • Joshua 21:18 - Anathoth with its pasture lands and Almon with its pasture lands; four cities.
  • Joshua 21:19 - All the cities of the sons of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their pasture lands.
  • Joshua 21:20 - Then the cities from the tribe of Ephraim were allotted to the families of the sons of Kohath, the Levites, even to the rest of the sons of Kohath.
  • Joshua 21:21 - They gave them Shechem, the city of refuge for anyone who committed manslaughter, with its pasture lands, in the hill country of Ephraim, and Gezer with its pasture lands,
  • Joshua 21:22 - and Kibzaim with its pasture lands and Beth-horon with its pasture lands; four cities.
  • Joshua 21:23 - From the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh with its pasture lands, Gibbethon with its pasture lands,
  • Joshua 21:24 - Aijalon with its pasture lands, Gath-rimmon with its pasture lands; four cities.
  • Joshua 21:25 - From the half-tribe of Manasseh, they allotted Taanach with its pasture lands and Gath-rimmon with its pasture lands; two cities.
  • Joshua 21:26 - All the cities with their pasture lands for the families of the rest of the sons of Kohath totaled ten.
  • Joshua 21:27 - To the sons of Gershon, one of the families of the Levites, they gave from the other half-tribe of Manasseh, [the city of] Golan in Bashan, the city of refuge for anyone who committed manslaughter, with its pasture lands, and Be-eshterah with its pasture lands; two cities.
  • Joshua 21:28 - From the tribe of Issachar, they gave Kishion with its pasture lands, Daberath with its pasture lands,
  • Joshua 21:29 - Jarmuth with its pasture lands, and En-gannim with its pasture lands; four cities.
  • Joshua 21:30 - From the tribe of Asher, they gave Mishal with its pasture lands, Abdon with its pasture lands,
  • Joshua 21:31 - Helkath with its pasture lands and Rehob with its pasture lands; four cities.
  • Joshua 21:32 - From the tribe of Naphtali, they gave Kedesh in Galilee, the city of refuge for anyone who committed manslaughter, with its pasture lands and Hammoth-dor with its pasture lands and Kartan with its pasture lands; three cities.
  • Joshua 21:33 - All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities with their pasture lands.
  • Joshua 21:34 - To the families of the sons of Merari, the rest of the Levites, they gave from the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with its pasture lands and Kartah with its pasture lands,
  • Joshua 21:35 - Dimnah with its pasture lands and Nahalal with its pasture lands; four cities.
  • Joshua 21:36 - From the tribe of Reuben, they gave Bezer with its pasture lands and Jahaz with its pasture lands,
  • Joshua 21:37 - Kedemoth with its pasture lands and Mephaath with its pasture lands; four cities.
  • Joshua 21:38 - From the tribe of Gad, they gave Ramoth in Gilead, the city of refuge for anyone who committed manslaughter, with its pasture lands and Mahanaim with its pasture lands,
  • Joshua 21:39 - Heshbon with its pasture lands and Jazer with its pasture lands; four cities in all.
  • Joshua 21:40 - All [these were] the cities of the sons of Merari according to their families, the rest of the families of the Levites; and their lot was twelve cities.
  • Joshua 21:41 - All the cities of the Levites in the midst of the property of the sons of Israel were forty-eight cities with their pasture lands.
  • Joshua 21:42 - These cities each had its surrounding pasture lands; so it was with all these cities.
  • Joshua 21:43 - So the Lord gave Israel all the land which He had sworn to give to their fathers (ancestors), and they took possession of it and lived in it.
  • Joshua 21:44 - The Lord gave them rest [from conflict] on every side, in accordance with everything that He had sworn to their fathers, and not one of all their enemies stood before them [in battle]; the Lord handed over all their enemies to them.
  • Joshua 21:45 - Not one of the good promises which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel failed; all had come to pass.
  • Nehemiah 11:1 - Now the leaders of the people lived in Jerusalem; but the rest of the people cast lots to bring one [person] out of ten to live in Jerusalem, the holy city, while nine-tenths remained in the other cities.
  • Nehemiah 11:2 - And the people blessed all the men who volunteered to live in Jerusalem.
  • Nehemiah 11:3 - These are the heads of the provinces who lived in Jerusalem, but in the cities of Judah everyone lived on his property in their cities—the Israelites, the priests, the Levites, the temple servants, and the descendants of Solomon’s servants.
  • Nehemiah 11:4 - And some of the sons of Judah and some of the sons of Benjamin lived in Jerusalem. From the sons of Judah: Athaiah the son of Uzziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalalel, of the sons of Perez;

  • Nehemiah 11:7 - These are the sons of Benjamin: Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Joed, the son of Pedaiah, the son of Kolaiah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ithiel, son of Jeshaiah;
  • Nehemiah 11:8 - and after him Gabbai and Sallai, 928.
  • Nehemiah 11:9 - Joel the son of Zichri was their overseer, and Judah the son of Hassenuah was second in command of the city.

  • Nehemiah 11:12 - and their brothers (relatives, fellow workers) who did the work of the house, 822; and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pelaliah, the son of Amzi, the son of Zechariah, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malchijah,
  • Numbers 26:57 - These are those who were numbered of the Levites according to their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershonites; of Kohath, the family of the Kohathites; of Merari, the family of the Merarites.
  • Numbers 26:58 - These are the families of Levi: the family of the Libnites, the family of the Hebronites, the family of the Mahlites, the family of the Mushites, the family of the Korahites. And Kohath was the father of Amram.
