  • Ezekiel 22:7 - In you they have treated father and mother lightly. They have oppressed the stranger among you; and in your presence they have wronged the fatherless and the widow.
  • Malachi 3:5 - “Then I will come near you for judgment; I will be a swift witness against sorcerers, against adulterers, against perjurers, and against those who oppress the laborer in his wages and widows and the fatherless, and against those who turn away the alien [from his right], and those who do not fear Me [with awe-filled reverence],” says the Lord of hosts.

  • Jeremiah 22:16 - He defended the cause of the afflicted and needy; Then all was well. Is that not what it means to know Me?” Says the Lord.
  • Jeremiah 22:17 - “But your eyes and your heart Are only intent on your own dishonest gain, On shedding innocent blood, On oppression and extortion and violence.”
  • Micah 3:1 - And I said, “Hear now, heads of Jacob And rulers of the house of Israel. Is it not for you to know and administer justice?
  • Micah 3:2 - You who hate good and love evil, Who tear the skin off my people And their flesh from their bones;
  • Micah 3:3 - You who eat the flesh of my people, Strip off their skin from them, Break their bones And chop them in pieces as for the pot, Like meat in a kettle.”
  • Micah 3:4 - Then they will cry to the Lord, But He will not answer them; Instead, He will even hide His face from them at that time [withholding His mercy] Because they have practiced and tolerated and ignored evil acts.
  • Mark 7:21 - For from within, [that is] out the heart of men, come base and malevolent thoughts and schemes, acts of sexual immorality, thefts, murders, adulteries,
  • Mark 7:22 - acts of greed and covetousness, wickedness, deceit, unrestrained conduct, envy and jealousy, slander and profanity, arrogance and self-righteousness and foolishness (poor judgment).
  • Mark 7:23 - All these evil things [schemes and desires] come from within and defile and dishonor the man.”
  • Deuteronomy 24:14 - “You shall not take advantage of a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether [he is] one of your countrymen or one of the strangers (resident aliens, foreigners) who is in your land inside your cities.
  • Deuteronomy 24:15 - You shall give him his wages on the day that he earns them before the sun sets—for he is poor and is counting on it—so that he does not cry out to the Lord against you, and it becomes a sin for you.

  • Deuteronomy 24:18 - But you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and the Lord your God redeemed you from there; therefore I am commanding you to do this thing.
  • 1 Corinthians 6:10 - nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers [whose words are used as weapons to abuse, insult, humiliate, intimidate, or slander], nor swindlers will inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God.

  • Proverbs 22:22 - Do not rob the poor because he is poor [and defenseless], Nor crush the afflicted [by legal proceedings] at the gate [where the city court is held],
  • Proverbs 22:23 - For the Lord will plead their case And take the life of those who rob them.
