所羅門在位第四年、西弗月、他立了永恆主之殿的根基。到十一年、布勒月、就是八月、他就把殿造完了，都按一切說明一切計畫。他用了七年工夫去建造它。他自己的宮室呢、所羅門費了十三年的工夫去建造，才把他全部的宮室都造完了。

二十年之間、所羅門建造了永恆主的殿和自己的宮室；二十年終了、所羅門就把戶蘭給了他、的那些城重新建造起來，使以色列人住在那裏。所羅門往哈馬瑣巴去，戰勝了那地方。所羅門建造了曠野的達莫，和他在哈馬所建造的一切貯藏城。他又建造了上伯和崙跟下伯和崙、作為堡障城，都有牆，有門、有閂；又建造了巴拉和所羅門所有的一切貯藏城、一切屯車城、駿馬城、和所羅門一切所愛好的建築物、就是他在耶路撒冷、利巴嫩、和他統治的各地所愛建造的。至於所剩下的眾民、屬於赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人、而不是屬於以色列的——他們的子孫於他們過往之後在此地剩下來、以色列人未曾滅盡的——這些人、所羅門都徵派下來、充作苦工；直到今日還是如此。但是以色列人、所羅門卻沒有使他們當奴隸作工；他們乃是戰士，乃是他的軍官長、和車兵長馬兵長。所羅門王有監管長二百五十個，就是管理作工之眾民的。所羅門將法老的女兒從大衛城搬上他為她建造的宮裏去，因為他說：『我的妻子不可住在以色列王大衛的宮裏，因為永恆主的櫃所到的地方都是聖地。』然後所羅門向永恆主獻上燔祭在永恆主的祭壇上、就是他在廊子前所築起的，他又照摩西所吩咐的在安息日、初一日、和制定節期上、一年三次、即除酵節、七七節、住棚節、按日日所該獻上的來獻。所羅門照他父親大衛所定的規矩派立了祭司的班次、使他們辦理事務，又使利未人各盡職守、來讚美永恆主，在祭司面前按日日的本分供職，又派守門的按着班次看守各門：因為神人大衛是這樣吩咐的。王所吩咐關於祭司們和利未人的事，無論是辦任何事務，或是掌管府庫，他們都沒有偏離。從永恆主的殿立根基的日子直到作成、所羅門的工都計畫得很周到：這樣、永恆主的殿就做完了。那時所羅門往以東地、靠近海邊的以旬迦別和以祿去。戶蘭將船隻和熟悉航海的僕人由臣僕經手送到所羅門那裏：他們同着所羅門的僕人到了俄斐，從那裏取得了四百五十擔金子，運到所羅門王那裏。
