And Samuel called the people together unto the LORD to Mizpeh;

But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.

And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the LORD.

And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed[ him] unto the LORD[ to be] the chief governor, and Zadok[ to be] priest.Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon the king.

Now therefore behold the king whom ye have chosen,[ and] whom ye have desired! and, behold, the LORD hath set a king over you.If ye will fear the LORD, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the LORD your God:But if ye will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you, as[ it was] against your fathers.

Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us;

[ Is it] not wheat harvest to day? I will call unto the LORD, and he shall send thunder and rain; that ye may perceive and see that your wickedness[ is] great, which ye have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking you a king.

I will be thy king: where[ is any other] that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?I gave thee a king in mine anger, and took[ him] away in my wrath.
