你们见亚扪人的王拿辖来攻击你们，就对我说：‘不，要有一个王治理我们。’其实耶和华—你们的神是你们的王。

可是當你們看到亞捫人的王納哈什來攻擊你們，就對我說：『不，我們必須要一個王統治我們。』其實耶和華你們的神就是你們的王。

爾見亞捫王拿轄來攻爾、則謂我曰、必有一王治我、是時爾上帝耶和華為爾之王、

爾見亞捫王拿轄攻爾、爾則請我、為爾立王、不知爾上帝耶和華為爾之王。

爾見亞捫王拿轄來攻爾、爾則向我曰、必當有王治理我、不知惟主爾之天主為爾之王、

“ But when you saw that Nahash king of the Ammonites was moving against you, you said to me,‘ No, we want a king to rule over us’— even though the Lord your God was your king.

“ But then you saw that Nahash, the king of Ammon, was about to attack you. So you said to me,‘ No! We want a king to rule over us.’ You said it even though the Lord your God was your king.

And when you saw that Nahash the king of the Ammonites came against you, you said to me,‘ No, but a king shall reign over us,’ when the Lord your God was your king.

“ But when you were afraid of Nahash, the king of Ammon, you came to me and said that you wanted a king to reign over you, even though the Lord your God was already your king.

But when you saw that Nahash king of the Ammonites was coming against you, you said to me,‘ No, we must have a king reign over us’— even though the LORD your God is your king.

But when you saw that Nahash the king of the sons of Ammon was coming against you, you said to me,‘ No, but a king shall reign over us!’ Yet the Lord your God was your king.

And when you saw that Nahash king of the Ammonites came against you, you said to me,‘ No, but a king shall reign over us,’ when the Lord your God was your king.

And when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, ye said unto me, Nay, but a king shall reign over us; when Jehovah your God was your king.

But when you saw that Nahash king of the Ammonites was coming against you, you said to me,‘ No, we must have a king rule over us’— even though the Lord your God is your king.

And when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, ye said unto me, Nay; but a king shall reign over us: when the LORD your God[ was] your king.

“ When you saw that King Nahash of the Ammonites was advancing against you, you said to me,‘ No! A king will rule over us’– even though the LORD your God is your king!

“ When you saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, you said to me,‘ No, but a king shall reign over us;’ when Yahweh your God was your king.

基甸对他们说：“我不治理你们，我的儿子也不治理你们，耶和华会治理你们。”

对他说：“看哪，你年纪老了，你的儿子又不行你的道。现在请你为我们立一个王治理我们，像列国一样。”撒母耳不喜悦他们说“立一个王治理我们”，他就向耶和华祷告。耶和华对撒母耳说：“你只管听从百姓向你说的一切话，因为他们不是厌弃你，而是厌弃我，不要我作他们的王。

你们今日却厌弃救你们脱离一切灾祸和患难的神，对他说：‘求你立一个王治理我们。’现在你们应当按支派和宗族站在耶和华面前。”

亚扪人拿辖上来，对着基列的雅比安营。雅比众人对拿辖说：“你与我们立约，我们就服事你。”亚扪人拿辖对他们说：“你们若由我挖出你们各人的右眼，以此凌辱以色列众人，我就与你们立约。”

现在，你的王在哪里呢？让他在你的各城中拯救你吧！你曾说“给我立君王和官长”，那些治理你的又在哪里呢？

但是你们如今起来攻击我的父家，在一块磐石上把他的七十个儿子全杀了，又立他使女所生的儿子亚比米勒为示剑居民的王，因为他是你们的弟兄—

如今你们若真的听从我的话，遵守我的约，就要在万民中作属我的子民，因为全地都是我的。你们要归我作祭司的国度，为神圣的国民。’这些话你要告诉以色列人。”

耶和华是审判我们的，耶和华为我们设立律法；耶和华是我们的君王，他必拯救我们。

神自古以来是我的王，在这地上施行拯救。

他未见雅各中有灾难，也未见以色列中有祸患。耶和华—他的神和他同在；在他中间有欢呼王的声音。

他的儿子不行他的道，贪图财利，收取贿赂，屈枉正直。

我要与你，以及你世世代代的后裔坚立我的约，成为永远的约，是要作你和你后裔的神。

百姓却不肯听撒母耳的话，说：“不！我们一定要一个王治理我们，使我们像列国一样，有王治理我们，率领我们，为我们争战。”

这样，神报应了亚比米勒向他父亲所做的恶事，就是杀了自己七十个兄弟。示剑人的一切恶事，神也都报应在他们头上；耶路巴力的儿子约坦的诅咒都临到他们身上了。
