King Asa also deposed his grandmother Maakah from her position as queen mother, because she had made a repulsive image for the worship of Asherah. Asa cut it down, broke it up and burned it in the Kidron Valley.

貶其祖母瑪迦太后之位、緣其為亞舍拉作可憎之像、亞撒斫其像、焚於汲淪溪旁、惟崇邱未廢、然亞撒畢生、專心於耶和華、以父所獻、及己所獻之金銀與器皿、進於耶和華室、亞撒與以色列王巴沙存日、常相戰鬥、以色列王巴沙上攻猶大、建拉瑪、使人不得出入於猶大王亞撒之所、亞撒取耶和華室及王宮府庫、所餘之金銀、付其臣僕、遣詣居大馬色之亞蘭王、希旬孫、他伯利們子便哈達、曰、爾我有約、如昔爾父與我父然、今我饋爾金銀、請廢爾與以色列王巴沙之約、使之去我、便哈達從亞撒王之言、遣其軍長攻以色列之邑、乃擊以雲、但、亞伯伯瑪迦、與基尼烈四境、拿弗他利全地、巴沙聞之、則止建拉瑪之工、而居得撒、亞撒王宣告猶大眾、不遺一人、遂取巴沙建拉瑪之木石、亞撒王以之建便雅憫之迦巴、與米斯巴、亞撒其餘事蹟、凡其所為、與其勇力、及所建之邑、俱載於猶大列王紀、亞撒年老、而有足疾、與列祖偕眠、同葬於大衛城、子約沙法嗣位、○

毀諸壇、碎木偶及雕像、搗之成粉、斫以色列遍地之日像、乃返耶路撒冷、○

如有人預言、則生之之父母、必謂之曰、爾託耶和華名而言誑、必不得生、彼預言時、生之之父母、必刺而穿之、

取所造之犢、爇以火、擣為粉、播於水、令以色列人飲之、

摩西曰、以色列之上帝耶和華云、各宜繫刃於腰、往來營中、自此門至彼門、殺其昆弟、友朋鄰里、利未人從其言、是日民中殞者、約三千人、

亞撒行其上帝耶和華所視為善為正者、除異邦之祭壇與崇邱、毀柱像、斫木偶、命猶大人尋求其列祖之上帝耶和華、行其法律誡命、除猶大諸邑之崇邱與日像、其時國享平康、

如爾同母兄弟、或爾子女、或懷中之妻、或如命之友、私誘爾曰、我其往事他神、爾與爾祖所未識者、即爾四周諸族之神、或近或遠、自地極至天涯、爾毋從之、毋聽之、毋惜之、毋恤之、毋匿之、必殺勿赦、

爾當毀其壇、碎其柱像、斫其木偶、火其雕像、必如是待之、

猶大列王在亞哈斯樓巔所建之壇、及瑪拿西在耶和華室二院中所建之壇、王悉毀而碎之、攜其塵土、傾於汲淪溪、

今而後我儕不以貌識人、雖曾以貌識基督、今不復如此識之、

爾之罪戾、即造犢像、我燬之以火、擣磨成塵、揚於自山而流之溪、

言及父母、彼曰我未見之、不認兄弟、不識子女、乃因遵行爾命、謹守爾約、

耶穌之母及其兄弟至、立於外、遣人呼之、眾環坐、謂之曰、爾母及兄弟在外覓爾、耶穌曰、孰為我母我兄弟乎、遂四顧環坐者曰、試觀我母我兄弟、蓋凡行上帝旨者、即我兄弟姊妹及母也、

其親屬聞而出、欲執之、曰、彼狂也、

我亦毀爾崇邱、斫爾日像、以爾尸骸、擲於偶像之上、我心必厭惡爾、

其神之雕像、必焚以火、其上金銀、勿貪勿取、免爾因此陷於坎阱、以其為爾上帝耶和華所惡也、可憎之物、勿攜入室、恐爾亦成為當滅者、與物無異、必憾之甚、憎之極、以其為當滅之物也、
