我兒，要將你的心歸我；你的眼目也要喜悅我的道路。

以斯拉定志考究遵行耶和華的律法，又將律例典章教訓以色列人。

你若將心安正，又向主舉手；

耶和華啊，謙卑人的心願，你早已知道。你必預備他們的心，也必側耳聽他們的祈求，

耶和華－我們列祖亞伯拉罕、以撒、以色列的神啊，求你使你的民常存這樣的心思意念，堅定他們的心歸向你，

只是邱壇還沒有廢去，百姓也沒有立定心意歸向他們列祖的神。

你要對他們說：你們世世代代的後裔，凡身上有污穢、親近以色列人所分別為聖、歸耶和華聖物的，那人必在我面前剪除。我是耶和華。亞倫的後裔，凡長大痲瘋的，或是有漏症的，不可吃聖物，直等他潔淨了。無論誰摸那因死屍不潔淨的物，或是遺精的人，或是摸甚麼使他不潔淨的爬物，或是摸那使他不潔淨的人（不拘那人有甚麼不潔淨），摸了這些人、物的，必不潔淨到晚上；若不用水洗身，就不可吃聖物。

「你告訴亞倫說：你世世代代的後裔，凡有殘疾的，都不可近前來獻他神的食物。因為凡有殘疾的，無論是瞎眼的、瘸腿的、塌鼻子的、肢體有餘的、折腳折手的、駝背的、矮矬的、眼睛有毛病的、長癬的、長疥的，或是損壞腎子的，都不可近前來。祭司亞倫的後裔，凡有殘疾的，都不可近前來，將火祭獻給耶和華。他有殘疾，不可近前來獻神的食物。神的食物，無論是聖的，至聖的，他都可以吃。但不可進到幔子前，也不可就近壇前；因為他有殘疾，免得褻瀆我的聖所。我是叫他成聖的耶和華。」

凡摸了人死屍、不潔淨自己的，就玷污了耶和華的帳幕，這人必從以色列中剪除；因為那除污穢的水沒有灑在他身上，他就為不潔淨，污穢還在他身上。「人死在帳棚裏的條例乃是這樣：凡進那帳棚的，和一切在帳棚裏的，都必七天不潔淨。凡敞口的器皿，就是沒有紮上蓋的，也是不潔淨。無論何人在田野裏摸了被刀殺的，或是屍首，或是人的骨頭，或是墳墓，就要七天不潔淨。要為這不潔淨的人拿些燒成的除罪灰放在器皿裏，倒上活水。必當有一個潔淨的人拿牛膝草蘸在這水中，把水灑在帳棚上，和一切器皿並帳棚內的眾人身上，又灑在摸了骨頭，或摸了被殺的，或摸了自死的，或摸了墳墓的那人身上。第三天和第七天，潔淨的人要灑水在不潔淨的人身上，第七天就使他成為潔淨。那人要洗衣服，用水洗澡，到晚上就潔淨了。「但那污穢而不潔淨自己的，要將他從會中剪除，因為他玷污了耶和華的聖所。除污穢的水沒有灑在他身上，他是不潔淨的。

「你們要這樣使以色列人與他們的污穢隔絕，免得他們玷污我的帳幕，就因自己的污穢死亡。」這是患漏症和夢遺而不潔淨的，並有月經病的和患漏症的，無論男女，並人與不潔淨女人同房的條例。

婦人在產血不潔之中，要家居三十三天。她潔淨的日子未滿，不可摸聖物，也不可進入聖所。

有幾個人因死屍而不潔淨，不能在那日守逾越節。當日他們到摩西、亞倫面前，

撒母耳對以色列全家說：「你們若一心歸順耶和華，就要把外邦的神和亞斯她錄從你們中間除掉，專心歸向耶和華，單單地事奉他。他必救你們脫離非利士人的手。」
