The Lord sent an angel. The angel wiped out all the enemy’s fighting men, commanders and officers. He put an end to them right there in the camp of the Assyrian king. So Sennacherib went back to his own land in shame. He went into the temple of his god. There some of his own sons, the people closest to him, killed him with their swords.

And the Lord sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty warriors and commanders and officers in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he came into the house of his god, some of his own sons struck him down there with the sword.

啊！萬民的咆哮，他們咆哮好像海洋的咆哮！萬族的喧嚷，他們喧嚷好像洪水的喧嚷！萬族喧嘩雖像大水的喧嚷，但神必斥責他們，他們就遠遠逃跑；他們被追趕，如山上風前的糠秕，又如旋風前的塵土。看哪，傍晚時分必有恐怖的事，未到早晨他們就不復存在了！這就是搶掠我們之人的份，是掠奪我們之人的命運。

唯獨你是可畏的！你的怒氣一旦發作，誰能在你面前站立得住呢？

主的一位天使立刻擊打希律，因為他沒有把榮耀歸給神。他被蟲咬蝕，就斷了氣。

狂傲來，羞辱也會來；而智慧與謙卑人同在。

耶和華說：「現在我要起來，現在我要被高舉，現在我要受尊崇。你們所懷的是乾草，所生的是麥稭；你們的鼻息是吞噬自己的火。眾民必被燒成灰燼，好像砍下的荊棘在火中燒掉。

他挫敗領袖們的心志，被地上的君王所敬畏。

我是耶和華，這是我的名；我必不把我的榮耀歸給他者，也不把我當受的讚美歸給雕像。

我的神派遣他的使者封住了獅子的口，使牠們沒有傷害我，因為我在神面前是清白的；王啊，我在你面前也沒有做過任何害人的事。」

因為他說：「我的首領們不全都是王嗎？

耶和華賜偉大的救恩給他所立的王，施慈愛給他的受膏者，就是大衛和他的後裔，直到永遠。

天使向耶路撒冷伸手，要毀滅耶路撒冷時，耶和華後悔降這災禍，就對那毀滅百姓的天使說：「夠了，住手吧！」那時耶和華的使者在耶布斯人亞勞拿的打穀場那裡。

於是耶和華的使者出去，在亞述的營中擊殺了十八萬五千人；清早人們起來，看哪，所見的都是死屍！亞述王西納基立就拔營回去，住在尼尼微。有一天，西納基立在自己的神尼斯洛的廟裡下拜，他的兒子亞得米勒和沙利色用刀殺了他，然後逃到亞拉臘地。他的兒子以撒哈頓接替他作王。

耶和華必使人聽見他威嚴的聲音，又以猛烈的怒氣、吞噬的火焰、暴雨、狂風和石頭般的冰雹，使人看見他掄下來的膀臂。亞述人必因耶和華的聲音而喪膽，耶和華必用杖擊打他們；耶和華施刑的杖每打他們一下，人都會擊鼓和彈琴；打仗的時候，耶和華必揮手與他們爭戰。原來，那焚燒場早已安排好了，是為君王所預備的；它又深又寬，其中充滿了火和許多木柴；耶和華的氣息如同一股硫磺火使它燃燒起來。

亞摩斯的兒子以賽亞就派人到希西加那裡，說：「以色列的神耶和華如此說：『有關亞述王西納基立的事，你既然向我祈求了，

在這世代的終結也將是這樣。天使們要出去，把惡人從義人中分別出來，丟進火爐裡。在那裡將有哀哭和切齒。」

尼布甲尼撒就開口說：「沙德拉克、米沙克、亞伯尼哥的神是當受頌讚的！他派遣他的使者拯救了他的僕人們；他們信靠神，違抗王的命令，甚至捨棄己身，除了自己的神以外，不事奉、不膜拜任何其他神明。

我必使他的仇敵披上恥辱；而他的冠冕必在他頭上發光。」

心強膽壯的人都被擄奪，長眠不醒；所有大能的勇士都手足無措。

看哪！主萬軍之耶和華將以震撼之力削去樹枝；高聳的必被砍下，高大的必被伐倒；樹林中的密叢，他必用鐵器砍掉；黎巴嫩必因威嚴的那一位而倒下。

如果不能，你怎能擊退我主的臣僕中至小的一個軍官呢？你竟敢依靠埃及的戰車和馬兵！

破敗以先，必有驕傲；絆跌之前，靈裡高慢。

地上的眾君王、大臣、軍官、富有的、有權的、所有的奴隸和自由人，都藏在洞穴裡和山嶺的岩石間。他們對山嶺和岩石說：「倒在我們身上吧！把我們藏起來，好躲避坐在寶座上那一位的臉和羔羊的震怒；

然而，你成群的外敵必變得像細小的灰塵，那些成群的強橫者必像被吹散的糠秕。頃刻之間，萬軍之耶和華必突然用雷霆、地震、巨響、旋風、狂風和吞噬的火焰來懲罰他們。攻打亞利伊勒的萬國眾軍，所有攻打亞利伊勒和它要塞的，以及使它受困苦的，都必像一場夢幻，又如夜間的異象——他們像飢餓的人在夢中吃飯，醒來後仍然飢餓；又像口渴的人在夢中喝水，醒來後仍然口渴、發昏。攻打錫安山的萬國眾軍也必如此。

因此，主萬軍之耶和華必使衰敗臨到亞述王肥壯的勇士；在亞述王的榮耀之下，必有火燃起，如同烈火燃燒。以色列的光必成為火，他的聖者必成為烈焰，一日之內就把亞述王的荊棘和蒺藜焚燒吞噬；亞述王樹林和果園的榮美必全然滅絕，好像病重的人消逝那樣。林中所殘餘的樹，少得連孩子也能記下來。

隨後，我看見一位天使站在太陽中，對所有在空中飛翔的鳥大聲呼喊說：「來吧，聚集起來赴神的大宴席，為要吃君王的肉、軍官的肉、壯士的肉、馬和騎士的肉，以及各種人的肉，包括自由人和奴隸，卑微人和尊貴人的肉。」
