But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

Treasure is kept in clay jars. In the same way, we have the treasure of the good news in these earthly bodies of ours. That shows that the mighty power of the good news comes from God. It doesn’t come from us.

But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.

We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.

In him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Zion’s precious children— once worth their weight in pure gold— how they are regarded as clay jars, the work of a potter’s hands!

and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the mighty working of his strength.He exercised this power in Christ by raising him from the dead and seating him at his right hand in the heavens—

I came to you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.My speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of wisdom but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power,so that your faith might not be based on human wisdom but on God’s power.

especially because of the extraordinary revelations. Therefore, so that I would not exalt myself, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to torment me so that I would not exalt myself.Concerning this, I pleaded with the Lord three times that it would leave me.But he said to me,“ My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me.

For it is said,“ His letters are weighty and powerful, but his physical presence is weak and his public speaking amounts to nothing.”

The LORD said to Gideon,“ You have too many troops for me to hand the Midianites over to them, or else Israel might elevate themselves over me and say,‘ I saved myself.’

For he was crucified in weakness, but he lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but in dealing with you we will live with him by God’s power.

how much more those who dwell in clay houses, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed like a moth!

because our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, in the Holy Spirit, and with full assurance. You know how we lived among you for your benefit,

made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!

as grieving, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet enriching many; as having nothing, yet possessing everything.

For I think God has displayed us, the apostles, in last place, like men condemned to die: We have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to people.We are fools for Christ, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are dishonored!Up to the present hour we are both hungry and thirsty; we are poorly clothed, roughly treated, homeless;we labor, working with our own hands. “ Therefore,” he said to them,“ every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom treasures new and old.”

Then he divided the three hundred men into three companies and gave each of the men a ram’s horn in one hand and an empty pitcher with a torch inside it in the other hand.“ Watch me,” he said to them,“ and do what I do. When I come to the outpost of the camp, do as I do.When I and everyone with me blow our ram’s horns, you are also to blow your ram’s horns all around the camp. Then you will say,‘ For the LORD and for Gideon!’”Gideon and the hundred men who were with him went to the outpost of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch after the sentries had been stationed. They blew their ram’s horns and broke the pitchers that were in their hands.The three companies blew their ram’s horns and shattered their pitchers. They held their torches in their left hands and their ram’s horns to blow in their right hands, and they shouted,“ A sword for the LORD and for Gideon!”
