秉權者、眾宜服之、蓋無權非由上帝、諸權皆上帝所命也、故與秉權者抗、乃拒上帝命、拒者自取鞫也、蓋有司非行善者所畏、乃行惡者所畏耳、爾欲弗畏權、惟行善則得其褒、蓋彼為上帝之役、以益爾、爾若行惡則畏之、以其非徒佩劍、乃為上帝役、以怒加諸行惡者、故須服之、不惟因怒、亦因良心也、是以爾亦輸稅、蓋彼乃上帝之有司、恆執斯役、

越至七年、耶何耶大遣人召迦利族與衛士之百夫長、導入耶和華室、與之立約、使在耶和華室發誓、以王子示之、

不第如我所望、且先獻己於主、又遵上帝旨、獻己於我儕、

以色列長老、咸至希伯崙見王、大衛在希伯崙、於耶和華前、與之立約、遂膏大衛、為以色列王、循耶和華藉撒母耳所言、

耶何耶大與民及王立約、必為耶和華之民、

耶和華在何烈、與以色列人立約、此外又在摩押、諭摩西與以色列人立約、其言如左、摩西召以色列眾、告之曰、昔爾目擊耶和華在埃及、行於法老與臣、及其全地之事、即大試鍊、與異蹟奇事、爾所見者、惟至今日、耶和華未嘗賜爾心能明、目能見、耳能聽、我導爾於野、歷四十年、爾衣在身而不敝、爾履在足而不壞、餅則未食、清酒醇醪未飲、使爾知耶和華乃爾之上帝、爾曹至此地、希實本王西宏、巴珊王噩、出與我戰、而我擊之、據有其地、給於流便迦得二支派、及瑪拿西支派之半、以為恆業、故當遵行此約之言、使凡所為、無不亨通、○今爾有眾、牧伯、族長、長老、有司、以色列諸丁男、爾之子女妻室、營中賓旅、自採薪者、及汲水者、俱立於爾上帝耶和華前、使爾與於爾上帝耶和華之約與誓、即其今日與爾所立者、彼以爾為己民、己為爾之上帝、踐其前言、循其與爾列祖亞伯拉罕以撒雅各所誓者、此約與誓、我不第與爾曹立也、凡今日於我上帝耶和華前、與我同在、及不同在者、亦與立之、

眾曰、我必反之、不取於彼、咸遵爾言、我遂召祭司至、使眾發誓、踐其所許、我則振衣曰、凡不踐其言者、願上帝如是振之、俾離家室、及其職業、使之匱乏、會眾曰、阿們、遂頌讚耶和華、民依所許而行、

緣此、我立盟約、書之於籍、我之牧伯、利未人祭司、鈐之以印、

我上帝耶和華在何烈、與我儕立約、非與我祖立約、乃與我儕今日在此尚存者也、
