In the seventh year Jehoiada sent for the commanders of units of a hundred, the Carites and the guards and had them brought to him at the temple of the Lord. He made a covenant with them and put them under oath at the temple of the Lord. Then he showed them the king’s son.

In the seventh year of Athaliah’s reign, Jehoiada the priest summoned the commanders, the Carite mercenaries, and the palace guards to come to the Temple of the Lord. He made a solemn pact with them and made them swear an oath of loyalty there in the Lord’s Temple; then he showed them the king’s son.

众百夫长就照着耶何耶大祭司一切所吩咐的去做，各带自己的人，无论安息日值班或不值班的，都到耶何耶大祭司那里。

又率领百夫长，迦利人和护卫兵，以及国中的众百姓，请王从耶和华的殿下来，由护卫兵的门进入王宫，他就坐上王位。

耶何耶大使王和百姓与耶和华立约，作耶和华的子民，又使王与百姓立约。

他们立约，要尽心尽性寻求耶和华—他们列祖的神。

王站在自己的位上，在耶和华面前立约，要尽心尽性跟从耶和华，遵守他的诫命、法度、律例，实行这书上所记这约的话；又使所有住耶路撒冷和便雅悯的人都服从这约。于是耶路撒冷的居民都遵行神，就是他们列祖之神的约。

我指着永生的耶和华—你的神起誓，无论哪一邦哪一国，我主都派人去找你。若他们说：‘不在这里’，他就叫那邦那国的人起誓说，他们实在找不到你。

现在我心中有意与耶和华—以色列的神立约，好使他的烈怒转离我们。

那日，约书亚就与百姓立约，在示剑为他们制定律例典章。

第七年，耶何耶大奋勇自强，叫了耶罗罕的儿子亚撒利雅、约哈难的儿子以实玛利、俄备得的儿子亚撒利雅、亚大雅的儿子玛西雅，和细基利的儿子以利沙法等众百夫长，与他们立约。他们走遍犹大，从犹大各城召集利未人和以色列的众族长到耶路撒冷来。全会众在神殿里与王立约。耶何耶大对他们说：“看哪，王的儿子必作王，正如耶和华指着大卫子孙所应许的。你们要这样做：在安息日值班的祭司和利未人，三分之一要把守各门，三分之一要在王宫，三分之一要在根基门；众百姓都要在耶和华殿的院内。除了祭司和供职的利未人之外，不准别人进耶和华的殿；只有他们可以进去，因为他们是神圣的。众百姓都要遵守耶和华所吩咐的。利未人要手中各拿兵器，四围保护王；凡擅自进殿的，要被处死。王出入的时候，你们当跟随他。”利未人和犹大众人都照着耶何耶大祭司一切所吩咐的去做，各带自己的人，无论安息日值班或不值班的都来，因为耶何耶大祭司不许他们下班。耶何耶大祭司就把神殿里所藏大卫王的枪和大小盾牌交给百夫长，又分派众百姓手中各拿兵器，在祭坛和殿那里，从殿南到殿北，站在王的四围；他们领约阿施出来，给他戴上冠冕，把律法书交给他，立他作王。耶何耶大和他的儿子们膏他，他们说：“愿王万岁！”亚她利雅听见百姓奔走赞美王的声音，就进耶和华的殿，到百姓那里。她观看，看哪，王站在殿门的柱旁，百夫长和号手在王旁边，国中的众百姓都欢乐吹号，又有歌唱的人用乐器领人歌唱赞美。亚她利雅就撕裂衣服，喊着说：“反了！反了！”耶何耶大祭司带领管军兵的百夫长出来，对他们说：“把她从行列之间赶出去，凡跟随她的必用刀杀死！”因为祭司说：“不可在耶和华殿里杀她。”他们就下手拿住她；她进入通往王宫的马门，他们就在那里把她杀了。耶何耶大与众百姓，又与王立约，要作耶和华的子民。于是众百姓到巴力庙去，拆毁了庙，打碎祭坛和偶像，又在坛前把巴力的祭司玛坦杀了。耶何耶大派官员在利未家的祭司手下看守耶和华的殿，他们是大卫所分派的，在耶和华殿中照摩西律法上所写，献燔祭给耶和华，又按大卫所定的，欢乐歌唱。耶何耶大又设立守卫把守耶和华殿的各门，无论因何事而不洁净的人，都不准进去。他又率领百夫长和贵族，与民间的官长，以及国中的众百姓，请王从耶和华的殿下来，由上门正中进入王宫，使王坐在国度的王位上。国中的众百姓都欢乐，合城也都平静。他们已将亚她利雅用刀杀了。

都随从他们贵族的弟兄发咒起誓，要遵行神藉他仆人摩西所赐的律法，谨守遵行耶和华—我们主的一切诫命、典章、律例。

贵族和官长说：“我们必归还，不再向他们索取，必照你所说的去做。”我就召了祭司来，叫贵族和官长起誓，必照这话去做。

于是二人在耶和华面前立约。大卫仍住在树林里，约拿单就回家去了。

于是守殿官和差役去带使徒来，并没有用暴力，因为怕百姓用石头打他们。

约拿单爱大卫如同爱自己的性命，就与他立约。

守殿官和祭司长听了这些话，心里困惑，不知这事将来如何。

他们和他们的弟兄都是族长，共有一千七百六十人，都善于做神殿的事工。

因这一切，我们立确实的约，写在册上。我们的领袖、利未人和祭司都用了印。

王站在柱子旁边，在耶和华面前立约，要尽心尽性跟从耶和华，遵守他的诫命、法度、律例，实行这书上所写这约的话。全体百姓都愿遵守所立的约。

约瑟叫以色列的子孙起誓：“神必定眷顾你们，你们要把我的骸骨从这里带上去。”
