It was because of the Lord’s anger that all this happened to Jerusalem and Judah, and in the end he thrust them from his presence. Now Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

The enemies of Jerusalem and Judah attacked them because the Lord was angry. In the end the Lord threw them out of his land. Zedekiah also refused to remain under the control of Nebuchadnezzar.

For because of the anger of the Lord it came to the point in Jerusalem and Judah that he cast them out from his presence. And Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

These things happened because of the Lord’s anger against the people of Jerusalem and Judah, until he finally banished them from his presence and sent them into exile. Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

惡者之至、藉撒但力、其妙用異跡奇事、無非偽為、詭詐百出、自棄者為所惑、蓋彼不願受真理致得救、為此、上帝任其大謬、信諸誑言、

時我上帝耶和華聽希實本王西宏剛愎厥心、不容我過其地、為我所敗、以今日之事為證。

乃王子背巴比倫王約、遣使至埃及、欲其率軍馬以至、彼行是事、豈能亨通、豈能免難、爽約之人、豈能獲救。我耶和華指己而誓、王子既為巴比倫王所立、藐視其主、爽其盟約、則必至巴比倫而沒、敵既築壘建營、欲滅邑眾、法老雖率旅眾多、以助其戰、亦必不利、蓋王子於立約之後、不以盟誓為重、而爽其約、故不能免難。主耶和華又曰、彼藐視約言、而背我命、我指己而誓、必罰其罪、罹之以網羅、陷之以坎阱、曳至巴比倫、在彼降災、以罰其罪、

耶利米乃奏西底家曰、萬有之主、以色列族之上帝耶和華云、如爾出邑、歸誠巴比倫王牧伯、則爾一家生命可保、斯邑不遭焚燬。不然迦勒底人必焚此城、爾亦不能脫於其手。西底家王告耶利米曰、猶大人已先歸誠於迦勒底人、我甚恐、若彼委我於猶大人、使凌辱予、則奈何。耶利米曰迦勒底人必不委爾於彼、惟我所傳耶和華之命、爾其聽從、則可保生命、而納福祉。如爾不出、則耶和華所示之言、更為王誦之。

因猶大族棄我、焚香奉事他上帝、以其所為干我震怒、故我憾此邑之民、靡有已時。

鎖安之牧伯、法老之謀士、忽為愚懵、焉能告法老曰、我乃先賢之後、前王之裔哉。萬有之主耶和華、已定厥命、降災埃及、若爾有賢人、必能知之、知之必能告爾。鎖安之牧伯為愚、挪弗之君長見惑、支派之宗、使之迷途、耶和華賦埃及以昏昧之心、使之行事舛錯、若醉者哇吐、跬步不能自主。

故震怒斯民、以書所載之咒詛、加乎其身。

不然、我必降災於爾、以及臣民、使爾知我於天下、無可比儗。我欲施大能、降疫癘於爾躬、及爾兆民、滅爾於斯土、亦何不可之有。然我使爾崛興、以顯我能、我名播揚於天下。爾如剛暴、禁阻我民、

智者安在、士子安在、世之辯者又安在、豈非上帝以此世之智為不智乎、
