蓋耶羅破暗已干罪戾、令以色列族陷罪、故耶和華必棄以色列族。

行惡於耶和華前、恆從尼八子耶羅破暗所為、使以色列族陷罪。

乃敢作惡、較前人尤甚、既違背我、鑄作偶像、奉事他上帝、干我震怒。

以色列族從耶羅破暗所為、恆行惡事、

耶羅破暗竊言曰、恐其國祚歸大闢家。如民恆往耶路撒冷。獻祭於耶和華殿、則其心必歸厥主猶大王羅波暗、而謀殺我。籌思既竟、作二金犢、告民曰、詣耶路撒冷甚難、昔導以色列族出自埃及之上帝即此。置一犢於伯特利、一犢於但。此事陷人於罪、民往至但、崇拜一犢。耶羅破暗於崇邱作殿、以凡民為祭司、不屬利未族者、猶大地固有節期、耶羅破暗別設節期、於八月之望、獻祭於壇、亦在伯特利祭所作之犢、以所任為崇邱之祭司、置於伯特利。既從己意、八月之望定節期、使以色列族恪守、則在是月、於伯特利所作之壇、獻祭焚香。

從尼八子耶羅破暗所行、猶為細事、乃娶西頓王、謁巴力女、耶洗別為后、遂服事崇拜巴力、

行惡於耶和華前、在位之日、恆從尼八子耶羅破暗所為、使以色列族陷罪。

耶戶曰、當告於民、必有大會、奉事巴力。遂告焉。耶戶遣人、遍以色列地、凡拜巴力者咸集、無一人不至。群入巴力之殿、充斥殿宇。耶戶命掌禮服者、攜衣以至、使眾拜巴力者服之。乃循其命。耶戶同哩甲子約拿撻、入巴力殿、告諸拜巴力者云、爾當遍閱、惟拜巴力者在此、耶和華之僕、勿雜其中。既入欲獻禮物燔祭、耶戶使八十人、立於門外、告之曰、我誘彼入此、有遁其一、爾當償命。獻燔祭畢。耶戶命趨承者及其長曰、入而殺拜巴力之人、勿遺其一。趨承者及其長、以刃擊眾、擲尸於外、後入巴力內殿、攜諸偶像、出而焚之。毀巴力之像、摧其殿宇、以之為廁、迄今猶存、堪以為證。於是耶戶滅巴力在以色列地。昔尼八子耶羅破暗、在伯特利、但二邑、立金犢、使以色列族陷罪、今耶戶亦尤而效之。耶和華謂耶戶曰、因爾待亞哈全家、從我所欲、故以為善、爾之子孫、必繼以色列國位、歷至四代。然耶戶不一心謹恪、信從以色列族上帝耶和華之律例、又效耶羅破暗之所為、使以色列族陷罪。
