掌權者傾聽虛假的話，他的臣僕就都邪惡。

祭便的兒子是亞雅和亞拿。當時在曠野放他父親祭便的驢子、遇着毒蛇的，就是這亞拿。

他們的手掌按住壞事物，孜孜以求；首領和審判官企圖着報酬；大官貴人說出他們心中的慾望；一人一動，他們就聯結起來。

『我的條例、你們務要守。不可讓你的牲口和兩樣的種性交而相配偶；不可用兩樣的種子種你的田地；也不可用兩樣攙雜的料子作的衣服穿在身上。

於是王對多益說：『你轉身去把祭司殺掉。』以東人多益就轉身去把祭司殺掉；那一天他殺死了八十五個人、都是帶着神諭像的。他又將祭司城挪伯的人都用刀擊殺：無論是男人女人、是孩童或喫奶的、是牛、驢、或羊、都用刀殺死。

拿伯城裏的人、那些在他城裏居住的長老和顯貴的人、就照耶洗別所送給他們的文書去行。他們照送給他們的文書裏所寫的宣告禁食，叫拿伯坐在民間的首位上。有兩個無賴子一類的人來，坐在拿伯對面；無賴子當着眾民面前作見證告拿伯說：『拿伯曾經謗讟上帝和王』；眾人就把他拉出城外，拿石頭打他打到死。

於是王差遣一個五十夫長帶着他那五十人去見以利亞；他上到以利亞那裏，以利亞正坐在山頂上。五十夫長對他說：『神人哪，王吩咐你下來。』以利亞回答五十夫長、說：『我，我若是神人，那麼願火從天上降下來、燒滅你和你那五十人。』於是有火從天上降下來、燒滅了五十夫長和他那五十人。王又差遣另一個五十夫長帶着他那五十人去見以利亞。五十夫長應時對以利亞說：『神人哪、王這樣吩咐說：「你趕快下來。」』以利亞回答他們說：『我，我若是神人，那麼願火從天上降下來、燒滅你和你那五十人。』於是有上帝的火從天上降下來、燒滅了五十夫長和他那五十人。
