But Abishai son of Zeruiah came to David’s rescue; he struck the Philistine down and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him, saying,“ Never again will you go out with us to battle, so that the lamp of Israel will not be extinguished.”

But Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, came to save David. He struck down the Philistine and killed him. Then David’s men made a promise. They said to David,“ We never want you to go out with us to battle again. You are the lamp of Israel’s kingdom. We want that lamp to keep on burning brightly.”

But Abishai the son of Zeruiah came to his aid and attacked the Philistine and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him,“ You shall no longer go out with us to battle, lest you quench the lamp of Israel.”

我必使大衛的後裔在那裡做王，我必為我所膏立的預備明燈。

大衛對亞比篩說：「現在比基利的兒子示巴對我們帶來的危害恐怕比押沙龍還要大。你帶領我的部下去捉拿他，免得他佔據了堅固的城池，得以逃脫。」於是，約押的部下和基利提人、比利提人以及所有的勇士都跟隨亞比篩離開耶路撒冷，去追趕比基利的兒子示巴。他們來到基遍的巨石旁，見亞瑪撒迎面而來。約押當時身穿戰袍，腰間佩刀，他迎上去的時候，刀從鞘中滑落出來。約押對亞瑪撒說：「兄弟，你好嗎？」他用右手抓住亞瑪撒的鬍子，親吻他。亞瑪撒毫無防備，被約押一刀刺入肚子，肚破腸流而死。然後，約押和他兄弟亞比篩繼續追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

耶和華啊！你是我的明燈，你使我的黑暗變為光明。

約翰是一盞點亮的明燈，你們情願暫時享受他的光。

上帝是我們的避難所，是我們的力量，是我們患難中隨時的幫助。

約翰不是那光，他來是為那光做見證。那照亮世人的真光來到了世上。

他們在我危難之時攻擊我，但耶和華扶持我。

你使君王得勝，救你的僕人大衛逃離刀劍的殺戮。

現在整個家族都起來反對婢女，說，『把那打死親兄弟的兇手交出來，我們要他以命償命，除掉這個繼承人。』他們要斷了我家的香火，使婢女的丈夫既不能留名，也不能留後。」
