And after Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul spent all his time preaching the word. He testified to the Jews that Jesus was the Messiah.

For you see, the believers in Macedonia and Achaia have eagerly taken up an offering for the poor among the believers in Jerusalem.

Now there was a believer in Damascus named Ananias. The Lord spoke to him in a vision, calling,“ Ananias!”“ Yes, Lord!” he replied.The Lord said,“ Go over to Straight Street, to the house of Judas. When you get there, ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul. He is praying to me right now.I have shown him a vision of a man named Ananias coming in and laying hands on him so he can see again.”

and he was hungry. But while a meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance.He saw the sky open, and something like a large sheet was let down by its four corners.In the sheet were all sorts of animals, reptiles, and birds.Then a voice said to him,“ Get up, Peter; kill and eat them.”“ No, Lord,” Peter declared.“ I have never eaten anything that our Jewish laws have declared impure and unclean.”But the voice spoke again:“ Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.”The same vision was repeated three times. Then the sheet was suddenly pulled up to heaven.Peter was very perplexed. What could the vision mean? Just then the men sent by Cornelius found Simon’s house. Standing outside the gate,

But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say,“ How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”

As a result, you have become an example to all the believers in Greece— throughout both Macedonia and Achaia.And now the word of the Lord is ringing out from you to people everywhere, even beyond Macedonia and Achaia, for wherever we go we find people telling us about your faith in God. We don’t need to tell them about it,

One afternoon about three o’clock, he had a vision in which he saw an angel of God coming toward him.“ Cornelius!” the angel said.

‘ In the last days,’ God says,‘ I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants— men and women alike— and they will prophesy.

And when I was with you and didn’t have enough to live on, I did not become a financial burden to anyone. For the brothers who came from Macedonia brought me all that I needed. I have never been a burden to you, and I never will be.

“ After I returned to Jerusalem, I was praying in the Temple and fell into a trance.I saw a vision of Jesus saying to me,‘ Hurry! Leave Jerusalem, for the people here won’t accept your testimony about me.’“‘ But Lord,’ I argued,‘ they certainly know that in every synagogue I imprisoned and beat those who believed in you.And I was in complete agreement when your witness Stephen was killed. I stood by and kept the coats they took off when they stoned him.’“ But the Lord said to me,‘ Go, for I will send you far away to the Gentiles!’”

When we arrived in Macedonia, there was no rest for us. We faced conflict from every direction, with battles on the outside and fear on the inside.

One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision and told him,“ Don’t be afraid! Speak out! Don’t be silent!For I am with you, and no one will attack and harm you, for many people in this city belong to me.”

where he stayed for three months. He was preparing to sail back to Syria when he discovered a plot by some Jews against his life, so he decided to return through Macedonia.

This boasting will do no good, but I must go on. I will reluctantly tell about visions and revelations from the Lord.I was caught up to the third heaven fourteen years ago. Whether I was in my body or out of my body, I don’t know— only God knows.Yes, only God knows whether I was in my body or outside my body. But I do knowthat I was caught up to paradise and heard things so astounding that they cannot be expressed in words, things no human is allowed to tell.

When the uproar was over, Paul sent for the believers and encouraged them. Then he said good bye and left for Macedonia.

“ I was in the town of Joppa,” he said,“ and while I was praying, I went into a trance and saw a vision. Something like a large sheet was let down by its four corners from the sky. And it came right down to me.When I looked inside the sheet, I saw all sorts of tame and wild animals, reptiles, and birds.And I heard a voice say,‘ Get up, Peter; kill and eat them.’“‘ No, Lord,’ I replied.‘ I have never eaten anything that our Jewish laws have declared impure or unclean.’“ But the voice from heaven spoke again:‘ Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.’This happened three times before the sheet and all it contained was pulled back up to heaven.“ Just then three men who had been sent from Caesarea arrived at the house where we were staying.The Holy Spirit told me to go with them and not to worry that they were Gentiles. These six brothers here accompanied me, and we soon entered the home of the man who had sent for us.He told us how an angel had appeared to him in his home and had told him,‘ Send messengers to Joppa, and summon a man named Simon Peter.He will tell you how you and everyone in your household can be saved!’

Cornelius replied,“ Four days ago I was praying in my house about this same time, three o’clock in the afternoon. Suddenly, a man in dazzling clothes was standing in front of me.

Now send messengers to Joppa, and summon a man named Simon Peter. He is staying in the home of Simon, a tanner who lives near the seashore.’So I sent for you at once, and it was good of you to come. Now we are all here, waiting before God to hear the message the Lord has given you.”

But the believers had heard that Peter was nearby at Lydda, so they sent two men to beg him,“ Please come as soon as possible!”

Indeed, you already show your love for all the believers throughout Macedonia. Even so, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you to love them even more.

For last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me,and he said,‘ Don’t be afraid, Paul, for you will surely stand trial before Caesar! What’s more, God in his goodness has granted safety to everyone sailing with you.’

As for Philip, an angel of the Lord said to him,“ Go south down the desert road that runs from Jerusalem to Gaza.”So he started out, and he met the treasurer of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under the Kandake, the queen of Ethiopia. The eunuch had gone to Jerusalem to worship,and he was now returning. Seated in his carriage, he was reading aloud from the book of the prophet Isaiah.The Holy Spirit said to Philip,“ Go over and walk along beside the carriage.”Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah. Philip asked,“ Do you understand what you are reading?”The man replied,“ How can I, unless someone instructs me?” And he urged Philip to come up into the carriage and sit with him.

Now I want you to know, dear brothers and sisters, what God in his kindness has done through the churches in Macedonia.

For I know how eager you are to help, and I have been boasting to the churches in Macedonia that you in Greece were ready to send an offering a year ago. In fact, it was your enthusiasm that stirred up many of the Macedonian believers to begin giving.

even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud.
