But Paul replied,“ No! This is the official Roman court, so I ought to be tried right here. You know very well I am not guilty of harming the Jews.

保羅曰、我立於該撒公堂、乃我當受鞫之地、我未嘗行不義於猶太人、爾所明知也、

葆樂曰：「予立於凱撒之法庭、即宜在此受審。予未嘗對猶太人行何不義、是亦汝所明知也。

Paul answered:“ I am now standing before Caesar’s court, where I ought to be tried. I have not done any wrong to the Jews, as you yourself know very well.

Paul answered,“ I’m already standing in Caesar’s court. This is where I should go on trial. I haven’t done anything wrong to the Jews. You yourself know that very well.

But Paul said,“ I am standing before Caesar’s tribunal, where I ought to be tried. To the Jews I have done no wrong, as you yourself know very well.

Paul replied,“ I am standing at Caesar’s tribunal, where I ought to be tried. I have done no wrong to the Jews, as even you yourself know very well.

But Paul said,“ I am standing before Caesar’s tribunal, where I ought to be tried. I have done nothing wrong to the Jews, as you also very well know.

So Paul said,“ I stand at Caesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be judged. To the Jews I have done no wrong, as you very well know.

But Paul said, I am standing before Cæsar’s judgment- seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou also very well knowest.

But Paul said:“ I am standing at Caesar’s tribunal, where I ought to be tried. I have done no wrong to the Jews, as even you can see very well.

Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.

Paul replied,“ I am standing before Caesar’s judgment seat, where I should be tried. I have done nothing wrong to the Jews, as you also know very well.

But Paul said,“ I am standing before Caesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be tried. I have done no wrong to the Jews, as you also know very well.

When they tied Paul down to lash him, Paul said to the officer standing there,“ Is it legal for you to whip a Roman citizen who hasn’t even been tried?”When the officer heard this, he went to the commander and asked,“ What are you doing? This man is a Roman citizen!”So the commander went over and asked Paul,“ Tell me, are you a Roman citizen?”“ Yes, I certainly am,” Paul replied.“ I am, too,” the commander muttered,“ and it cost me plenty!” Paul answered,“ But I am a citizen by birth!”

But Paul replied,“ They have publicly beaten us without a trial and put us in prison— and we are Roman citizens. So now they want us to leave secretly? Certainly not! Let them come themselves to release us!”When the police reported this, the city officials were alarmed to learn that Paul and Silas were Roman citizens.

About eight or ten days later Festus returned to Caesarea, and on the following day he took his seat in court and ordered that Paul be brought in.

We reject all shameful deeds and underhanded methods. We don’t try to trick anyone or distort the word of God. We tell the truth before God, and all who are honest know this.

But in my opinion he has done nothing deserving death. However, since he appealed his case to the emperor, I have decided to send him to Rome.

I soon discovered the charge was something regarding their religious law— certainly nothing worthy of imprisonment or death.

( He knew very well that the religious leaders had arrested Jesus out of envy.)

“ Why?” Pilate demanded.“ What crime has he committed?” But the mob roared even louder,“ Crucify him!”Pilate saw that he wasn’t getting anywhere and that a riot was developing. So he sent for a bowl of water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying,“ I am innocent of this man’s blood. The responsibility is yours!”

“ When his accusers came here for the trial, I didn’t delay. I called the case the very next day and ordered Paul brought in.

The Romans tried me and wanted to release me, because they found no cause for the death sentence.

As they went out, they talked it over and agreed,“ This man hasn’t done anything to deserve death or imprisonment.”
