Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

So don’t let anyone judge you because of what you eat or drink. Don’t let anyone judge you about holy days. I’m talking about special feasts and New Moons and Sabbath days.

Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath.

So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths.

One person values one day over another, another values every day the same. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind.The one who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and the one who eats, does so with regard to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and the one who does not eat, it is for the Lord that he does not eat, and he gives thanks to God.

But as for you, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or you as well, why do you regard your brother or sister with contempt? For we will all appear before the judgment seat of God.

Therefore let’s not judge one another anymore, but rather determine this: not to put an obstacle or a stumbling block in a brother’s or sister’s way.I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but to the one who thinks something is unclean, to that person it is unclean.For if because of food your brother or sister is hurt, you are no longer walking in accordance with love. Do not destroy with your choice of food that person for whom Christ died.Therefore do not let what is for you a good thing be spoken of as evil;for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

You meticulously observe days and months and seasons and years.

and to offer all burnt offerings to the Lord, on the Sabbaths, the new moons and the appointed festivals, in the number determined by the ordinance concerning them, continually before the Lord.

And it shall be the prince’s part to provide the burnt offerings, the grain offerings, and the drink offerings, at the feasts, on the new moons, and on the Sabbaths, at all the appointed feasts of the house of Israel; he shall provide the sin offering, the grain offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make atonement for the house of Israel.”

It is not what enters the mouth that defiles the person, but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles the person.”

One person has faith that he may eat all things, but the one who is weak eats only vegetables.The one who eats is not to regard with contempt the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat is not to judge the one who eats, for God has accepted him.

for the showbread, for the continual grain offering, for the continual burnt offering, the Sabbaths, the new moons, for the appointed times, for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make atonement for Israel, and all the work of the house of our God.

Do not be misled by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited.

But if anyone says to you,“ This is meat sacrificed to idols,” do not eat it, for the sake of that one who informed you and for the sake of conscience;Now by“ conscience” I do not mean your own, but the other person’s; for why is my freedom judged by another’s conscience?If I partake with thankfulness, why am I slandered about that for which I give thanks?Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God.

Do not tear down the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are clean, but they are evil for the person who eats and causes offense.It is good not to eat meat or to drink wine, or to do anything by which your brother or sister stumbles.

Do not speak against one another, brothers and sisters. The one who speaks against a brother or sister, or judges his brother or sister, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it.

For prior to the coming of some men from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he began to withdraw and separate himself, fearing those from the circumcision.The rest of the Jews joined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy.

who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth.For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude;for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer.

Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,“ Command the sons of Israel and say to them,‘ You shall be careful to present to Me My offering, My food for My offerings by fire, of a soothing aroma to Me, at their appointed time.’And you shall say to them,‘ This is the offering by fire which you shall offer to the Lord: two male lambs one year old without defect as a continual burnt offering every day.You shall offer the one lamb in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer at twilight;also a tenth of an ephah of fine flour as a grain offering, mixed with a fourth of a hin of pure oil.It is a continual burnt offering which was ordained on Mount Sinai as a soothing aroma, an offering by fire to the Lord.Then the drink offering with it shall be a fourth of a hin for each lamb; in the Holy Place pour out a drink offering of strong drink to the Lord.The other lamb you shall offer at twilight; as the grain offering of the morning and as its drink offering, you shall offer it, an offering by fire, a soothing aroma to the Lord.‘ Then on the Sabbath day two male lambs one year old without defect, and two tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering, and its drink offering:This is the burnt offering of every Sabbath in addition to the continual burnt offering and its drink offering.‘ Then at the beginning of each of your months you shall present a burnt offering to the Lord: two bulls and one ram, seven male lambs one year old without defect;and three tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering, for each bull; and two tenths of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering, for the one ram;and a tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering for each lamb, as a burnt offering of a soothing aroma, an offering by fire to the Lord.Their drink offerings shall be half a hin of wine for a bull and a third of a hin for the ram and a fourth of a hin for a lamb; this is the burnt offering of each month throughout the months of the year.And one male goat as a sin offering to the Lord; it shall be offered with its drink offering in addition to the continual burnt offering.‘ The Lord’s Passover shall be on the fourteenth day of the first month.On the fifteenth day of this month there shall be a feast; unleavened bread shall be eaten for seven days.On the first day there shall be a holy assembly; you shall do no laborious work.But you shall present an offering by fire, a burnt offering to the Lord: two bulls and one ram, and seven male lambs one year old, that you have without defect.For their grain offering, you shall offer fine flour mixed with oil: three tenths of an ephah for a bull, and two tenths for the ram.A tenth of an ephah you shall offer for each of the seven lambs;and one male goat as a sin offering to make atonement for you.You shall present these besides the burnt offering of the morning, which is for a continual burnt offering.In this way you shall present daily, for seven days, the food of the offering by fire, of a soothing aroma to the Lord; it shall be presented with its drink offering in addition to the continual burnt offering.On the seventh day you shall have a holy assembly; you shall do no laborious work.‘ Also on the day of the first fruits, when you present a new grain offering to the Lord in your Feast of Weeks, you shall have a holy assembly; you shall do no laborious work.But you shall offer a burnt offering as a soothing aroma to the Lord: two bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs one year old;and as their grain offering, fine flour mixed with oil: three tenths of an ephah for each bull, two tenths for the one ram,and a tenth for each of the seven lambs;

Jesus said to them,“ The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.So the Son of Man is Lord, even of the Sabbath.”

because it does not go into his heart, but into his stomach, and is eliminated?”( Thereby He declared all foods clean.)

since they relate only to food, drink, and various washings, regulations for the body imposed until a time of reformation.

But he said,“ Why are you going to him today? It is neither new moon nor Sabbath.” So she just said,“ It will be fine.”

“ Observe the month of Abib and celebrate the Passover to the Lord your God, for in the month of Abib the Lord your God brought you out of Egypt by night.You shall sacrifice the Passover to the Lord your God from the flock and the herd, in the place where the Lord chooses to establish His name.You shall not eat leavened bread with it; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread with it, the bread of affliction( for you came out of the land of Egypt in a hurry), so that you will remember the day when you came out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life.For seven days no leaven shall be seen with you in your entire territory, and none of the meat which you sacrifice on the evening of the first day shall be left overnight until the morning.You are not allowed to sacrifice the Passover in any of your towns which the Lord your God is giving you;but only at the place where the Lord your God chooses to establish His name, you shall sacrifice the Passover in the evening at sunset, at the time that you came out of Egypt.You shall cook and eat it in the place which the Lord your God chooses. In the morning you are to return to your tents.For six days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a festive assembly to the Lord your God; you shall do no work on it.“ You shall count seven weeks for yourself; you shall begin to count seven weeks from the time you begin to put the sickle to the standing grain.Then you shall celebrate the Feast of Weeks to the Lord your God with a voluntary offering of your hand in a proportional amount, which you shall give just as the Lord your God blesses you;and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you, your son and your daughter, and your male and female slaves, and the Levite who is in your town, and the stranger, the orphan, and the widow who are in your midst, at the place where the Lord your God chooses to establish His name.You shall also remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and you shall be careful and comply with these statutes.“ You shall celebrate the Feast of Booths for seven days when you have gathered in from your threshing floor and your wine vat;and you shall rejoice in your feast, you, your son and your daughter, and your male and female slaves, and the Levite, the stranger, the orphan, and the widow who are in your towns.For seven days you shall celebrate a feast to the Lord your God in the place which the Lord chooses, because the Lord your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you will be altogether joyful.“ Three times a year all your males shall appear before the Lord your God at the place which He chooses: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Booths; and they are not to appear before the Lord empty handed.Everyone shall give as he is able, in accordance with the blessing of the Lord your God which He has given you.

The Lord spoke again to Moses, saying,“ Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them,‘ The Lord’s appointed times which you shall proclaim as holy convocations— My appointed times are these:‘ For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a Sabbath of complete rest, a holy convocation. You shall not do any work; it is a Sabbath to the Lord in all your dwellings.‘ These are the appointed times of the Lord, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at the times appointed for them.In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight is the Lord’s Passover.Then on the fifteenth day of the same month there is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the Lord; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread.On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall not do any laborious work.But for seven days you shall present an offering by fire to the Lord. On the seventh day is a holy convocation; you shall not do any laborious work.’ ”Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,“ Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them,‘ When you enter the land which I am going to give to you and you gather its harvest, then you shall bring in the sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest.He shall wave the sheaf before the Lord for you to be accepted; on the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.Now on the day when you wave the sheaf, you shall offer a male lamb one year old without defect as a burnt offering to the Lord.Its grain offering shall then be two tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil, an offering by fire to the Lord for a soothing aroma, with its drink offering, a fourth of a hin of wine.Until this very day, until you have brought in the offering of your God, you shall eat neither bread nor roasted grain nor new produce. It is to be a permanent statute throughout your generations in all your dwelling places.‘ You shall also count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day when you brought in the sheaf of the wave offering; there shall be seven complete Sabbaths.You shall count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall present a new grain offering to the Lord.You shall bring in from your dwelling places two loaves of bread as a wave offering, made of two tenths of an ephah; they shall be of a fine flour, baked with leaven as first fruits to the Lord.Along with the bread you shall present seven one year old male lambs without defect, and a bull of the herd and two rams; they are to be a burnt offering to the Lord, with their grain offering and their drink offerings, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the Lord.You shall also offer one male goat as a sin offering, and two male lambs one year old as a sacrifice of peace offerings.The priest shall then wave them with the bread of the first fruits as a wave offering with two lambs before the Lord; they are to be holy to the Lord for the priest.On this very day you shall make a proclamation as well; you are to have a holy convocation. You shall do no laborious work. It is to be a permanent statute in all your dwelling places throughout your generations.‘ When you reap the harvest of your land, moreover, you shall not reap to the very edges of your field nor gather the gleaning of your harvest; you are to leave them for the needy and the stranger. I am the Lord your God.’ ”Again the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,“ Speak to the sons of Israel, saying,‘ In the seventh month on the first of the month you shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation.You shall not do any laborious work, but you shall present an offering by fire to the Lord.’ ”Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,“ On exactly the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement; it shall be a holy convocation for you, and you shall humble yourselves and present an offering by fire to the Lord.You shall not do any work on this very day, for it is a Day of Atonement, to make atonement on your behalf before the Lord your God.If there is any person who does not humble himself on this very day, he shall be cut off from his people.As for any person who does any work on this very day, that person I will eliminate from among his people.You shall not do any work. It is to be a permanent statute throughout your generations in all your dwelling places.It is to be a Sabbath of complete rest for you, and you shall humble yourselves; on the ninth of the month at evening, from evening until evening, you shall keep your Sabbath.”Again the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,“ Speak to the sons of Israel, saying,‘ On the fifteenth of this seventh month is the Feast of Booths for seven days to the Lord.On the first day is a holy convocation; you shall not do any laborious work.For seven days you shall present an offering by fire to the Lord. On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation and present an offering by fire to the Lord; it is an assembly. You shall not do any laborious work.‘ These are the appointed times of the Lord which you shall proclaim as holy convocations, to present offerings by fire to the Lord— burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings, each day’s matter on its own day—besides those of the Sabbaths of the Lord, and besides your gifts and besides all your vowed and voluntary offerings, which you give to the Lord.‘ On exactly the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the crops of the land, you shall celebrate the feast of the Lord for seven days, with a rest on the first day and a rest on the eighth day.Now on the first day you shall take for yourselves the foliage of beautiful trees, palm branches and branches of trees with thick branches and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days.So you shall celebrate it as a feast to the Lord for seven days in the year. It shall be a permanent statute throughout your generations; you shall celebrate it in the seventh month.You shall live in booths for seven days; all the native born in Israel shall live in booths,so that your generations may know that I had the sons of Israel live in booths when I brought them out from the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.’ ”So Moses declared to the sons of Israel the appointed times of the Lord.

Blow the trumpet at the new moon, At the full moon, on our feast day.

However, not all people have this knowledge; but some, being accustomed to the idol until now, eat food as if it were sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.Now food will not bring us close to God; we are neither the worse if we do not eat, nor the better if we do eat.But take care that this freedom of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak.For if someone sees you, the one who has knowledge, dining in an idol’s temple, will his conscience, if he is weak, not be strengthened to eat things sacrificed to idols?For through your knowledge the one who is weak is ruined, the brother or sister for whose sake Christ died.And so, by sinning against the brothers and sisters and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.Therefore, if food causes my brother to sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause my brother to sin.

It is to be a Sabbath of solemn rest for you, so that you may humble yourselves; it is a permanent statute.

“ Speak to the sons of Israel, saying,‘ These are the creatures which you may eat from all the animals that are on the earth.Whatever has a divided hoof, showing split hoofs, and chews the cud, among the animals, that you may eat.Nevertheless, you are not to eat of these, among those which chew the cud, or among those which have a divided hoof: the camel, for though it chews cud, it does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean to you.Likewise, the rock hyrax, for though it chews cud, it does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean to you.The rabbit also, for though it chews cud, it does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean to you.And the pig, for though it has a divided hoof, and so it shows a split hoof, it does not chew cud; it is unclean to you.You shall not eat any of their flesh nor touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you.‘ These you may eat, of whatever is in the water: everything that has fins and scales, in the water, in the seas, or in the rivers, you may eat.But whatever is in the seas and in the rivers that does not have fins and scales among all the teeming life of the water, and among all the living creatures that are in the water, they are detestable things to you,and they shall be detestable to you; you may not eat any of their flesh, and you shall detest their carcasses.Whatever in the water does not have fins and scales is detestable to you.‘ Moreover, these you shall detest among the birds; they are detestable, not to be eaten: the eagle, the vulture, and the buzzard,the red kite, the falcon in its kind,every raven in its kind,the ostrich, the owl, the seagull, and the hawk in its kind,the little owl, the cormorant, and the great owl,the white owl, the pelican, and the carrion vulture,the stork, the heron in its kinds, the hoopoe, and the bat.‘ All the winged insects that walk on all fours are detestable to you.Yet these you may eat among all the winged insects that walk on all fours: those which have jointed legs above their feet with which to jump on the earth.These of them you may eat: the locust in its kinds, the devastating locust in its kinds, the cricket in its kinds, and the grasshopper in its kinds.But all other winged insects which are four footed are detestable to you.‘ By these, moreover, you will be made unclean; whoever touches their carcasses becomes unclean until evening,and whoever picks up any of their carcasses shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening.As for all the animals which have a divided hoof but do not show a split hoof, or do not chew the cud, they are unclean to you; whoever touches them becomes unclean.Also whatever walks on its paws, among all the creatures that walk on all fours, are unclean to you; whoever touches their carcasses becomes unclean until evening,and the one who picks up their carcasses shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening; they are unclean to you.‘ Now these are to you the unclean among the swarming things which swarm on the earth: the mole, the mouse, and the great lizard in its kinds,the gecko, the crocodile, the lizard, the sand reptile, and the chameleon.These are to you the unclean among all the swarming things; whoever touches them when they are dead becomes unclean until evening.Also anything on which one of them may fall when they are dead becomes unclean, including any wooden article, or clothing, or a hide, or a sack— any article of which use is made— it shall be put in the water and be unclean until evening, then it becomes clean.As for any earthenware vessel into which one of them may fall, whatever is in it becomes unclean and you shall break the vessel.Any of the food which may be eaten, on which water comes, shall become unclean, and any liquid which may be drunk in every vessel shall become unclean.Moreover, everything on which part of their carcass may fall becomes unclean; an oven or a stove shall be smashed; they are unclean and shall continue as unclean to you.Nevertheless, a spring or a cistern collecting water shall be clean, though the one who touches their carcass shall be unclean.Now if a part of their carcass falls on any seed for sowing which is to be sown, it is clean.But if water is put on the seed and a part of their carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you.‘ Also if one of the animals dies which you have for food, the one who touches its carcass becomes unclean until evening.He, too, who eats some of its carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening, and the one who picks up its carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening.‘ Now every swarming thing that swarms on the earth is detestable, not to be eaten.Whatever crawls on its belly, and whatever walks on all fours, whatever has many feet, in regard to every swarming thing that swarms on the earth, you shall not eat them, because they are detestable.Do not make yourselves detestable through any of the swarming things that swarm; and you shall not make yourselves unclean with them so that you become unclean.For I am the Lord your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, because I am holy. And you shall not make yourselves unclean with any of the swarming things that swarm on the earth.For I am the Lord who brought you up from the land of Egypt, to be your God; so you shall be holy, because I am holy.’ ”This is the law regarding the animal and the bird, and every living thing that moves in the waters and everything that swarms on the earth,to make a distinction between the unclean and the clean, and between the edible creature and the creature which is not to be eaten.

‘ And anyone from the house of Israel, or from the strangers who reside among them, who eats any blood, I will set My face against that person who eats the blood, and will cut him off from among his people.For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.’Therefore I said to the sons of Israel,‘ No person among you may eat blood, nor may any stranger who resides among you eat blood.’So when anyone from the sons of Israel, or from the strangers who reside among them, while hunting catches an animal or a bird which may be eaten, he shall pour out its blood and cover it with dirt.“ For as for the life of all flesh, its blood is identified with its life. Therefore I said to the sons of Israel,‘ You are not to eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood; whoever eats it shall be cut off.’And any person who eats an animal which dies or is torn by animals, whether he is a native or a stranger, shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and remain unclean until evening; then he will become clean.

Do not go on bringing your worthless offerings, Incense is an abomination to Me. New moon and Sabbath, the proclamation of an assembly— I cannot endure wrongdoing and the festive assembly.

So David said to Jonathan,“ Behold, tomorrow is the new moon, and I am obligated to sit down to eat with the king. But let me go so that I may hide myself in the field until the third evening.

saying,“ When will the new moon be over, So that we may sell grain; And the Sabbath, so that we may open the wheat market, To make the ephah smaller and the shekel bigger, And to cheat with dishonest scales,

But I said,“ Oh, Lord God! Behold, I have never been defiled; for from my youth until now I have never eaten what died of itself or was torn by animals, nor has any unclean meat ever entered my mouth!”

saying,“ You went to uncircumcised men and ate with them.”But Peter began and explained at length to them in an orderly sequence, saying,“ I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw a vision, an object coming down like a great sheet lowered by four corners from the sky; and it came to where I was,and I stared at it and was thinking about it, and I saw the four footed animals of the earth, the wild animals, the crawling creatures, and the birds of the sky.I also heard a voice saying to me,‘ Get up, Peter; kill and eat.’But I said,‘ By no means, Lord, for nothing unholy or unclean has ever entered my mouth.’But a voice from heaven answered a second time,‘ What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy.’This happened three times, and everything was drawn back up into the sky.And behold, at that moment three men who had been sent to me from Caesarea came up to the house where we were staying.And the Spirit told me to go with them without misgivings. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man’s house.And he reported to us how he had seen the angel standing in his house, and saying,‘ Send some men to Joppa and have Simon, who is also called Peter, brought here;and he will speak words to you by which you will be saved, you and all your household.’And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as He did upon us at the beginning.And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say,‘ John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’Therefore, if God gave them the same gift as He also gave to us after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God’s way?”When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying,“ Well then, God has also granted to the Gentiles the repentance that leads to life.”

As for the peoples of the land who bring wares or any grain on the Sabbath day to sell, we will not buy from them on the Sabbath or on any holy day; and we will forgo the crops of the seventh year and every debt.

Then Jonathan said to him,“ Tomorrow is the new moon, and you will be missed since your seat will be empty.

but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated by idols, from acts of sexual immorality, from what has been strangled, and from blood.

I remember these things and pour out my soul within me. For I used to go over with the multitude and walk them to the house of God, With a voice of joy and thanksgiving, a multitude celebrating a festival.

‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ The gate of the inner courtyard facing east shall be shut for the six working days; but it shall be opened on the Sabbath day and opened on the day of the new moon.The prince shall enter by way of the porch of the gate from outside and stand by the post of the gate. Then the priests shall provide his burnt offering and his peace offerings, and he shall worship at the threshold of the gate and then go out; but the gate shall not be shut until the evening.The people of the land shall also worship at the doorway of that gate before the Lord on the Sabbaths and on the new moons.

“ You shall not eat any detestable thing.These are the animals that you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat,the deer, the gazelle, the roebuck, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope, and the mountain sheep.And any animal that has a divided hoof and has its hoofs split in two, and chews the cud, among the animals, that animal you may eat.However, you are not to eat these among the ones that chew the cud, or among those that have the hoof divided in two: the camel, the rabbit, and the rock hyrax, for though they chew the cud, they do not have a divided hoof; they are unclean to you.And the pig, because it has a divided hoof but does not chew the cud, it is unclean for you. You shall not eat any of their flesh, nor touch their carcasses.“ These you may eat of everything that is in the water: anything that has fins and scales you may eat,but anything that does not have fins and scales, you shall not eat; it is unclean for you.“ You may eat any clean bird.But these are the ones that you shall not eat: the eagle and the vulture and the buzzard,and the red kite, the falcon, and the kite in their kinds,and every raven in its kind,and the ostrich, the owl, the seagull, and the hawk in their kinds,the little owl, the great owl, the white owl,the pelican, the carrion vulture, the cormorant,the stork, and the heron in their kinds, and the hoopoe and the bat.And all the swarming insects with wings are unclean to you; they shall not be eaten.You may eat any clean bird.“ You shall not eat anything which dies of itself. You may give it to the stranger who is in your town, so that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a stranger; for you are a holy people to the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.

Also on the day of your joy and at your appointed feasts, and on the first days of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be as a reminder of you before your God. I am the Lord your God.”

Then Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people,“ This day is holy to the Lord your God; do not mourn or weep.” For all the people were weeping when they heard the words of the Law.
