讓不知不覺、素來沒有仇恨、殺死鄰舍的兇手、得以逃到那三個地方去；逃到一座這樣的城，就可以活着：

使素與人無仇而誤殺之者、可逃於彼、逃入其邑、即可保全生命、

to which anyone who had killed a person could flee if they had unintentionally killed a neighbor without malice aforethought. They could flee into one of these cities and save their life.

Suppose someone killed a person they didn’t hate and without meaning to do it. That person could run to one of those cities and stay alive.

就要給你們選擇幾座適當的城、給你們做逃罪城，讓殺人的、就是無意擊殺人的可以逃到那裏。這些城可以做逃罪城，讓殺人者得以逃避贖業至親報仇的人，不至於死，等到他站在會眾面前受審判，然後決定。

你們給利未人的城、其中要有六座逃罪城，讓殺人的可以逃到那裏；此外還要給他們四十二座城。

這六座城要給以色列人和他們中間寄居的和寄住者做逃罪城，讓無意擊殺人的可以逃到那裏。『倘若人用鐵器擊打人，以致那人死去，那就是故意殺人的；故意殺人的、必須被處死。人若手中拿着會打死人的石頭去擊打人、以致那人死去，那就是故意殺人的；故意殺人的、必須被處死。或是人手裏拿着會打死人的木器去擊打人，以致那人死去，那就是故意殺人的；故意殺人的、必須被處死。報血仇的要親自把那故意殺人的打死；遇見他的時候，就可以把他打死。人若因怨恨人而把人推倒，或是懷着惡意往人身上扔東西，以致那人死去，或是因仇恨用手擊打人，以致那人死去，那擊打人的必須被處死，他是故意殺人的；報血仇的遇見那故意殺人的，就可以把他打死。『人若沒有仇恨、突然將人推倒、或是沒有懷着惡意、而往人身上扔甚麼器物，或是沒有看見的時候、用會打死人的石頭丟落在人身上，以致那人死去，實質與他無仇，也不是想法子要害他的；那麼、會眾就要按照這些典章在擊打人者與報血仇者之間審判是非。會眾要援救這殺人的脫離那報血仇者的手，也要使他返回他所逃進的逃罪城；他要住在城中，直到受聖膏的大祭司死了。但殺人的無論如何若出了他所逃進的逃罪城境界以外，報血仇的在逃罪城境界外遇着他，而報血仇的把那殺人的殺了，報血仇的是沒有流人血之罪的。因為殺人的應該住在逃罪城中、直到大祭司死了；大祭司死了以後，殺人的才可以回到他所得為產業的地。

『將來永恆主你的上帝剪除了列國人，永恆主你的上帝將他們的地賜給你、去趕出那些人、去住他們的城市房屋，那時候你要在永恆主你的上帝所賜給你去取得的地、為自己分別三座城來。你要測量道路的距離，將永恆主你的上帝使你承受為業的地域分為三區，讓錯誤殺人的可以逃到那裏。『錯誤殺人的、其規例乃是這樣：凡不知不覺、素來沒有仇恨、擊殺鄰舍的人、得以逃到那裏，就可以活着。凡人同鄰舍進森林裏砍伐樹木，他手裏揮着斧子砍樹木；斧頭竟脫了把，飛落在鄰舍身上，以致那人死去，他若逃到一座這樣的城，就可以活着；免得報血仇的趁着心中火熱去追趕他，又因路遠、竟把他趕上而擊打了他、以致斃命；其實他並沒有該死的罪案，因為那人和他素來並沒有仇恨。因此我吩咐你說：你要分別三座城來。永恆主你的上帝若照他向你列祖所起誓過的擴張你的境界，將他所應許給你列祖的全地都給了你——你如果謹慎實行我今日所吩咐你的這一切誡命，愛永恆主你的上帝，行他的道路——那麼你就要在這三座城以外、再加上三座，免得無辜之血流在永恆主你的上帝所賜給你為業之地，以致流人血的罪竟歸於你。

好讓我們這些逃難的人、藉這兩件不可更改的事、就是上帝所不能撒謊的、得強有力的鼓勵，去抓住那擺在我們前頭的指望。
