以色列族怨言、我已聞矣。當告之曰、夕可噉肉、朝可飽餅、使知我乃爾之上帝耶和華。營壘四周、夕有鶉集、旦有露降、零露初晞、細片如霜、充斥於地。以色列族見而弗識、相語曰、此何物歟。摩西曰、此耶和華予爾之餅。耶和華諭爾曰、凡在幕者取之、視其人數、隨其所需、人各六升。以色列族遵命以斂、寡者有之、多者亦有之、以升量其所入、多取者無餘、寡取者無乏、其斂之也、隨其所需。摩西告民曰、毋留其餘、以待詰朝。有不從摩西言者、留之明日、蟲生臭惡、摩西怒焉、每晨各隨所需而斂、日暴則消。至六日所斂、則倍其數、人各十二升、眾會長來告摩西。摩西曰、此應耶和華言、翌日安息、乃耶和華之聖日、欲炙者炙、欲煮者煮、食既有餘、藏於明日。乃遵摩西命、留之明日、臭不惡、蟲不生。摩西曰、爾可食此、今日安息、奉事耶和華、雖索於野、必不得。六日間當斂之、惟七日乃安息、不能得也。至七日、有適野以斂者、果無所得。耶和華諭摩西曰、斯民不守我誡命、奉我律例、將伊於何底。我耶和華以安息日賜爾、故於六日、予爾宿舂、至安息日、必居其所而不離。蓋七日民乃安息。以色列族稱所得者曰嗎嗱、狀如莞荽仁、而色白、味甘如蜜餅。摩西曰、耶和華命必以此物充六升、傳於歷代、使知我導汝出埃及、居野時所餉爾者。摩西告亞倫曰、嗎嗱六升藏於器中、置之耶和華前、歷代存焉。亞倫遵命、置於法匱前、以存之。以色列族食嗎嗱、歷四十年、迨至迦南境人跡之處而後已。

斯皆惟主是賴、隨時主給以食兮、主給之、彼食之、主溥恩膏、彼得果腹兮、主遐棄之、則不得安、主斷其氣、則就死亡、歸於土兮、
