Everyone’s toil is for their mouth, yet their appetite is never satisfied.

People eat up everything they work to get. But they are never satisfied.

All the toil of man is for his mouth, yet his appetite is not satisfied.

All people spend their lives scratching for food, but they never seem to have enough.

All of a person’s labor is for his stomach, yet the appetite is never satisfied.

劳力的人为自己劳力，因为他的口腹催逼他。

其实，敬虔加上知足就是大利。因为我们没有带什么到世上来，也不能带什么去；只要有衣有食，我们就该知足。

“所以，我告诉你们，不要为你们的生命忧虑吃什么喝什么，或为你们的身体忧虑穿什么。生命不胜于饮食吗？身体不胜于衣裳吗？

喜爱银子的，不因得银子满足；喜爱财富的，也不因得利益知足。这也是虚空。

又对亚当说：“你既听从你妻子的话，吃了那树上所出的，就是我吩咐你不可吃的，土地必因你的缘故受诅咒；你必终生劳苦才能从土地得吃的。土地必给你长出荆棘和蒺藜来；你也要吃田间的五谷菜蔬。你必汗流满面才有食物可吃，直到你归了土地，因为你是从土地而出的。你本是尘土，仍要归回尘土。”

人若生一百个儿子，活许多岁数；他即使寿命很长，心里却不因福乐而满足，又不得埋葬；我说，那流掉的胎比他倒好。

然后要对我自己说：你这个人哪，你有许多财物积存，可供多年享用，只管安安逸逸吃喝快乐吧！’
